A closer look

July 6, 2009 in freckles,Isabelle,Uncategorized

Before Isabelle even arrived, the OB took one look at me and said, "I bet your child has freckles, but just so you know, they don't usually show up until around two years old."

Previously, we started noticing them; a little one on her cheek, one on her arm, just a little sprinkling of them. Now, she has enough of them to point them out...and she can see them.

We take every opportunity to tell her how much we love them and how beautiful they are. (Because, well, kids are mean, and I remember being made fun of because of all of my freckles..."freckle face" being one of them).

The other morning (yes, we are in PJs and our hair is NOT brushed), we were looking at freckles and pointing them out. Isabelle has a fun time finding hers.

Then, she decided she would look for mine. That's pretty easy to do! "There's one...there's one...there's one" all the while pointing out each one.

Here's hoping one day she will embrace her freckles, too, and that kids will only be nice to her about them. I can dream, right?

Kids still make fun of freckles? That is the most ridiculous thing!

I didn't know they showed up after a couple of years. That is so interesting!

I have always loves freckles on other people! I think they are very cute and can't imagine how anyone would make fun of anyone with freckles, but kids are kids, I guess, right? And they make fun of others for the dumbest reasons. I was teased about my hair, my braces, etc. Sometimes, being a child is tough.

BUT your daughter is so beautiful, as are you, and you look great with freckles. Totally cute and sexy.

Freckles are adorable!
Love that she is discovering hers.
So. sweet.

I didn't have that many growing up, but now that I am older it seems I am a freckle/mole grower.
I tell my kids in the event of a power outage and nothing to do, they can just grab a sharpie and connect the dots on mommy.

Happy Monday Krystyn!

They WILL be nice to her…she is too cute to resist, and Aunty Em will not be the pe the mean little brats want to answer to. Just remind any meanies of that!

I used to hate my freckles. But now I love them.

And my Daddy used to tell me that they were Princess sparkles. And only the best princesses had them.

I get fighting mad when other kids are mean to my kids! My oldest is an easy target with his Autism and I'm always on high alert. I'm not above tripping a mean kid that deserves it. I'm just sayin'…

No, people I wouldn't really trip a kid. But I would trip their parents without thinking twice.

Oh I love freckles!!! I think they make a person so unique! Good for you to teach her to be proud of her freckles. I just notice my little H has a birth mark on his upper thigh, though I laugh that it's called a birth mark, but doesn't show up till he's 18 months, hmm.

I cannot believe kids make fun of freckles. There is nothing wrong with them. They add character! She's a beautiful girl no matter what. But kudos to you for starting the self confidence early!
