Turkey Craft Fun

November 12, 2009 in crafts,Uncategorized

Just because Turkey day is fast approaching.

Tonight, at Chick-fil-a family night, there was a craft for the kids.   They made this adorable little turkey, so I thought I would pass on the idea (as I never come up with cute stuff like this).

Mr. Turkey’s body is made up of two styrofoam balls that have been spray-painted brown.  They are held together with a toothpick.

His plumage is well, feathers, that Isabelle inserted into the back.

Then his beak, “gobbler” and legs are made of pipe cleaners.  Two little ones for the beak, one folded into a “V'” for the “gobbler”, and two for the feet.

To finish him off, two googly eyes!  I’d say it’s a winner.

And a fun Turkey song that my friend Emily taught us (to the tune of Pop Goes the Weasel):

The turkey is a funny bird

His head goes wobble, wobble

All he knows is just one word

Gobble, gobble, gobble.

The flap of skin that hangs over their beaks is called a snood. The skin that hangs and covers their throats and necks is called a wattle. Oh, the things you learn in kindergarten!!!

Very cute turkey!

I just have such a hard time imagining going to Chick-fil-a at a separate restaurant…….The only place we have them here is in the food courts……..So no craft for us, but I always love that the kid's meals come with books! (they make great books to carry in my bag!)
