Celtic Woman Review and DVD Giveaway

Celtic Woman is recently on tour with their newest project “Songs from the Heart.”  They are a five-member Irish female ensemble that puts a modern twist on the Celtic Sound.

I had never heard of Celtic Woman before, but when Mr. Serious saw the CD, he mentioned that they are frequently on PBS.  So, needless to say, I didn’t really know what to expect when I popped the CD into our van’s CD player.

I was very pleasantly surprised.  The music is fun and light-hearted and yet sounds very modern.  The very first song is actually Sting’s “Field of Dreams.”  It also features a fun song from Lion King (one of the first Disney soundtracks I memorized).  Their music can definitely reach many audiences as they switch from Irish classics, to cover songs to their own original compositions.  It was definitely a fun mix of songs.

They are on tour right now.  I’ve read some rave reviews of their concerts and I was bummed that I wasn’t able to attend.  You can check their tour dates to see if they are performing near you.  Look at their crazy and modern set.  It sure looks fun to me!
