Talk about a walk down memory lane.
My mom purchased a play parachute for the girls to use during our visit to Houston.
My sister, hubby and I were reliving our youth from PE classes in elementary school and the girls were experiencing something totally new and awesome to them.
We first played with just the parachute. Up and down, making a mushroom cloud and getting inside it.

Then, we remembered that we used soft-foamy balls as "popcorn" to bounce around the parachute. We didn't have any of those, so we used some linky toys instead.
We spread them out on the parachute.
Then, we grabbed onto the handles and bounced the "popcorn" around. I wouldn't really recommend this source of "popcorn" as it goes pretty high and isn't the softest. I guess we learned why we used foam balls in elementary school.
Obviously, they had a blast, though! That's some joy right there.
Evidence of the "shrapnel popcorn" flung around grandma's living room.
Then, the girls grew tired of holding onto the parachute, and jumped on for a ride. They were a little heavier than the previous "popcorn" so they didn't fly off!

my girls love the parachute. our homeschool group has one and they go crazy everytime it’s brought out.
I used to love those in elementary school too.
Man, that was a trip down memory lane!
How fun!!!
Those smiles (including Aunt Ems!) are priceless!
Ah, the memories! The parachute, scooter hockey and they gymnastic mats were the best parts of p.e. It looks like you were having so much fun!
linky toys = ouch! but parachute = tons of fun!
We LOVE the parachute at our house!
I so remember those from elementary school. We also did the thing where you all sit around with your legs under it and then someone crawls around underneath it and grabs ya!!
Such fun to relive those childhood memories!

That is loads of fun! Love the photos!
Aloha!
Too cute! I remember the parachute in school – I was always the lightest (not anymore!) and I would get nominated to go in the middle and have all my classmates try to fling me in the air!

that is so much fun. I would have loved to have one of those for my girls when they were younger. Instead we got to do the parachute at the library and music time.

How fun!!! I always loved playing with the parachute, too. They look like they were having a blast.
Parachutes are so much fun! I used to teach Mommy and Me classes many moons ago. There are so many fun things you can do with a parachute.
Throw some colorful feathers on there and bounce them around.
Make “alphabet soup” by bouncing foam bath letters. When the letters all bounce off, have your kids call out the letters they find and collect.
Have a snowstorm by bouncing cotton balls.
Have a teddy bear picnic and bouncy your teddy bears on the parachute.
Have the kids sit in the middle and sing “Ring Around the Rosie”.
Laurie Berkener has a song called “Popcorn” which is a great song to dance and move the parachute to.
Those are just some off the top of my head. I’m sure more will come to me later. Enjoy your new toy!
Thanks for visiting for WW!
I love these things – so does Karys. I never thought to actually BUY one! Looks like a blast.
how fun!
