Wow. It’s been almost 10 years since we visited Atlanta together for the first time. It was so long ago and yet I remember much of it so vividly.
In May 2003, we came to Atlanta for a long weekend (even missing some of Senior week at college) to try to find a place to live and figure out the city a bit. And, while we were here, we were told we had to visit the World of Coke. This was the old, small one. With a 7 minute movie probably made in the 70s.
Mr. Serious is looking so very young…and of course had to post in front of the posters of women in their swimsuits.
(Sidenote: I just realized that Mr. Serious is wearing the same shorts! As in these shorts are likely over 10 years old. I guess we need to go clothes shopping!)
And, I had to post with the bear in the gift shop. (I swear I had a picture of both of us in front of the bear, but I can’t for the life of me find it.) Seriously, Krystyn? Overalls? Please tell me they were okay in 2003?
Almost 10 years later, and quite a bit sure has changed. Most notably, is the bear that blinks, moves his head and has personality. Okay, obviously not most notable, but seriously, the bear was nuzzling and sniffing E’s head. The photographer told bear to stop and I said “just don’t eat her.” The photog said “he doesn’t eat babies” and the bear smiled and shook his head “yes!” Eeek. He then stood up and rested his head on Mr. Serious’ head (we saw him “eat” another persons’ head, too). It was a lot of fun interacting with the bear. And, when a timid #1 decided to do a picture, the bear got down really low and put on his sweet face for her picture.
I guess we look a little different, too.
Okay, so really, in 10 years, we’ve graduated college, moved to Atlanta, married, bought a house, each graduated with Master’s degrees and oh, yeah, had three kids. Two of which thought the tasting station was the best thing, ever (yeah, they don’t get soda, like ever, so this was a huge treat).
Ten years later, we went to grab lunch from the food court and decided on the “Mexican restaurant with a bell” because the line was the shortest and the little people like it. We picniced at Centennial Park and let the girls hang out. (Okay, isn’t that skull shirt like the cutest, ever?) And, true to our being tourists in our own town, we let the girls play in the fountains (once again, I failed to bring a change of clothes!)
Yeah, I guess there’s been a couple things that have changed over the years. It’s been pretty awesome.
I’m linking up here. Go and visit their Wordful and Wordless Wednesdays.

We moved to Atlanta almost 11 years ago and have had a lot of changes, too
For me it wasn’t exactly a move by choice since I had to leave the great city of Chicago but we’ve been happy here.

Chicago’s pretty cool, too! But I like the warmth here:)

Looks like you guys had tons of fun both times. I have totally been in the no change of clothes position too many times to count. Your girls are adorable and you and hubby haven’t changed much in 10 years.

Oh yeah, the overalls were totally fine back then. I had some I wore while pregnant with B in 2003/2004. NO ONE would wear them now!!! ACK!
Love the picture comparison – and WOW – 10 years!!

Wow, Krystyn! You haven’t aged a bit in ten years! (No fair. hehe) It’s always fun to look back on how things have changed over the years. You have really been blessed with such a beautiful family! Thank you for sharing this!

That may not be a fashion statement but I don’t know many ppl who can do that … I love this idea though!

I know it’s hard to tell in this picture (I had another one that you could tell they were the same better, but the picture wasn’t very good). So yes, same shorts!
Sadly, it’s not the only piece of clothing laying around from 10 years ago!
LOL, whatever brand of shorts they were, they were made good after wearing for 10 years… You have an awesome family. Loved the pics! I use to live in the Atlanta area…so much to do.
Yes, they have held up really well!
Thanks. We sure do love each other. And, so very much to do. We haven’t even scratched the surface.
That was fun to see the then and now, and I’m cracking up that he still has the same shorts. But it’s great that he can still fit them!
I need to go to that place. You know I’m a Coke girl!

I guess he should be happy about that!
I can’t believe you haven’t been to world of coke yet! You must go (or, plan a visit after Type-A next year!)
don’t you love playing tourists in your own town?! my husband grew up in roswell/alpharetta and my favorite visits to his “home” are when we leave the ‘burbs and play tourists for the day downtown.
