Happy Mama Movement: Embrace the help

THIS POST MAY CONTAIN AFFILIATE LINKS. I MAY EARN FROM QUALIFYING PURCHASES.

Sometimes there is some craziness with four kids. Sometimes? Who am I kidding? We are month in and it’s craziness most of the time.

But the Happy Mama Movement is here. And, while the craziness is there, life is way better when we embrace the happy; smile, take it in and love it.

My girls are adjusting to their new roles as big sisters, and I’m adjusting to them in their new roles as big sisters. I’m trying to embrace it. Trying to go beyond what I would normally allow and do and put some trust in them and their confidence.

The oldest has done an amazing job in her role. She wants to hold B all the time. Initially, this made me nervous. But, she had confidence, so I reluctantly handed her sister over. She asked for tips and what to do to help calm her down and make her happy. Even with E close by.

And just last night, she even got her to sleep! If you haven’t seen Atlanta, we are covered in snow and ice. And not prepared. Mr. Serious left work at 4pm. He took the bus, and eventually was stuck on a non-moving bus and walked to a coworkers house where he still is staying.

Last night at bedtime, B and E were both fussy. E needed bed. B wanted to be held. Big sister said “I got her mom.” And she did. She paced around the living room lighting bouncing her. I looked down the stairs, and she had her asleep in her arms.

Happy Mama Movement

My girls as sisters, helping me out, helping each other out, they make me happy. Embrace the help. Embrace the craziness that is sibling love and be happy!

  5. That is so sweet! Your daughter is a wonderful big sister! I am really sorry for what you are dealing with there with the snow and the ice. I saw the news tonight and all those people trapped overnight on the roads…oh how awful! When they were interviewing the mom who had her little baby with her, stuck in a freezing cold car all night long, with no diapers or food, I just wanted to cry. It just makes you realize how important these moments of joy are!

    1. I’m so thankful most of us were home safe. And, now, here we are doing it all over again. This time, we are all home!

  6. So awesome. Sometimes I want to have another baby (I WON’T) just because I want to see how #1 will be with a baby now that he’s nearly a teen. And I want to know what kind of big brother #3 would be after being the baby for so long. But, that ship has sailed and instead I have to enjoy brotherhood via punches in the throat and leg sweeps.

    1. Well, the thought of throat punches and leg sweeps is pretty exciting sounding!

  13. This is where I am with my girls too, embracing the help. They are capable of more than we sometimes give them credit for. How sweet is it that she put her to sleep? It makes me happy and shows that you’ve done a good job, that they’re willing and able to help, especially when you need it.

    1. I agree…I keep looking around trying to find more things they can do around the house. I need to get them on laundry! Why am I washing theirs? hmmmm

  17. Oh my heart just exploded in cute.
I was the total opposite with my sister. I was #1 for 4 years and then she was born. I was so angry with all of the attention when she came home. Everyone stood over her while she was sleeping in the car seat. When no one was looking, I grabbed her by the ankles and dragged her out of the car seat and sat in it.
Yup, totally had a red ass that day.

    1. Oh goodness…I can only imagine. I heard I picked my sisters fingers. What the heck is that all about?

  18. What a lovely photo, I miss my baby. I want to embrace her now… Thanks for sharing your posts, I love it…
