40 Weeks

THIS POST MAY CONTAIN AFFILIATE LINKS. I MAY EARN FROM QUALIFYING PURCHASES.

There have been countless times I will be sitting in the living room and all of a sudden hear a strange noise. I sit for a minute and listen to it wondering what is going on.

Then I remember. Oh. That’s the water boiling for the potatoes.

Every pregnancy makes me more and more forgetful, earlier and earlier.

While I feel I was pretty good at documenting my pregnancies here on the old blog, with many details and belly bump pictures, there are definitely some details that I would have liked to look back on.

2 days before B was born

{My last bump picture with B. Just two days before she was born accidentally at home!}

I wish I would have done more video; video with me, with sisters, with the husband and family and even some at the doctor’s office capturing heartbeats and ultrasounds. I wish I had videos and pictures from their births, too. Mr. Serious thinks I am crazy, but I want to have those.

40Weeks

This post is brought to you by the 40 Weeks movie and The Motherhood. All opinions are my own.

Where I didn’t capture all of those emotions, feelings, and nervousness, the movie 40 Weeks did. And, the forgetfulness. At one point, a lady is sitting on her couch and thinks there is bee in the house. Nope. It’s dinner cooking!

The movie, designed to empower, educate and create a sense of community for expectant moms (and current moms) follows over 10 families along on their life-changing journey. It is filled with candid self-filmed videos as well as interviews throughout their 40 weeks of pregnancy. The movie captures all of the joy, anxiety and fear that follow the families and their pregnancy. Each family is in a different place, too from a single mom, recently broken-up mom, starting a new family with step-children, post-pregnancy loss, mixed race couples, a same-sex couple and an older couple.

I really enjoyed watching each couple/mom along on her journey. I smiled when they were happy, I laughed when they were silly and excited and I cried right along with them when they were scared and emotional. In fact, Mr. Serious watched it with me as it’s made for both moms and dads, presenting a beautiful palette of families’ experiences on their journey into parenthood.

Big Belli LLC and thus 40 Weeks was conceived by husband and wife team Christopher Henze and Dominique Debroux to produce the 40 Weeks movie, designed to empower, educate and create a sense of community for expectant moms.

We both really enjoyed watching the movie and following along with all of the expectant parents. We connected with all of them on many different levels, whether it was their morning sickness, their exhaustion, their forgetfulness, their excitement or their nervousness. We appreciated that there were some medicated and unmedicated hospital births, planned and emergency c-sections and even some water births and birth centers.

    1. I so wish I would have hired somebody. Although this last time, I don’t know how it would have worked out, or if anybody would have made it! We might have left the photographer to watch our older kids to get to the hospital!

      Those pictures really are beautiful!

  18. What a beautiful idea for a movie! I actually loved being pregnant. Maybe not those very last few weeks, but everything else. Not that I’m really aching to do it again, though. 3 is enough.

  19. This looks like an amazing movie for the likes of Annie Stow! We video taped the first birth and then made some great videos of hospital stuff/labor/baby of the other 3….Some doctors just aren’t too keen on that video stuff – I guess I can see why. But what a treat to be able to look back and see those amazing moments on video! Thanks for sharing! I’ll definitely be checking it out!

  20. Crystal Rose says:

I actually liked feeling my baby move a bit before she was born.

  21. That sounds so nice! It must bring back such memories. While it has been 10 years for me, whenever I talk to a new or expecting mom I remember exactly how I felt at that stage. The strollers may change but the process we all go through doesn’t and it is good to remember that while we all may make different choices we are tied together by motherhood.

  22. I just adored all the movements from the babies and I always laughed when they got hiccups. I loved being pregnant!

  23. I loved feeling my babies move. It was especially fun when I was pregnant with my twin girls. They were always wrestling for position! 🙂

  24. amazing! I’ve never made it to 40 weeks because I was always go before then, I can’t imagine carrying a baby that long!!! kudos to you!

  27. This sounds interesting! I was so sick when I was pregnant and gained SO MUCH WEIGHT that pregnancy was not necessarily my favorite experience. It had its moments, but I wish I had been able to plan better for some of the things I experienced. This movie sounds like it might help future moms!

  28. You are too cute! Eddy called it Mom-esia and yes I still have it. Especially after several days of not sleeping. I will have to check out the movie.

  29. I loved being pregnant and sometimes wish we could have one more! My favorite part was watching my belly grow and feeling my girls move inside me. It was so amazing and while I didn’t always feel very good during pregnancy, I still enjoyed carrying them.

  30. My youngest is 6 and I am still forgetful! I swear they suck brain matter from you through the umbilical cord. Five pregnancies and I’m a goner! I’d love to see this movie. I don’t think I could get the hubster to watch it though, it’s soooo over babies lol.

  31. I still haven’t quite recovered from my forgetfulness after my second pregnancy. I have had a few kitchen incidents similar to that.
