Baby likes her crawfish | Wordful Wednesday

THIS POST MAY CONTAIN AFFILIATE LINKS. I MAY EARN FROM QUALIFYING PURCHASES.

This weekend, one of Mr. Serious’ coworkers invited us to a crawfish boil.

Being the Texas natives that we are, we went for it (little did we know it was almost an hour to their house)!

It was a great time.  Hot, but fun.  The girls enjoyed playing with new kids and we enjoyed chatting with new adults.

When it was time for dinner, the kids sat down to their nuggets and mac and cheese, and the adults sat down to a spread of crawfish, sausage, corn-on-the-cobb and potatoes.

#2 didn’t touch hers.  She kept walking over to us, checking things out and asking what everything was.  But…she didn’t want a taste.

Then, she came over, picked one up off the table and said, “I want that one!”

We were a little shocked and surprised, but Mr. Serious peeled it for her (and removed the poop, I hope), and she gobbled it up.

She really liked it and had several more of the little buggars.

  2. She sounds like my kind of girl! I love crawfish! Did you teach her to suck the heads? I bet she would love that! 🙂

    1. Yeah, there was definitely no head sucking involved. Ewww…

  5. Wow, brave child! I am hoping my 5 year old gets over his picky eating stage, you’d be amazed the things he won’t eat! My two year old on the other hand, will eat anything one day and then eat nothing at all the next!

    1. Thankfully (knocking on wood), the girls are pretty good eaters and will try lots of different foods.

  6. Mmm!

We are BIG crawfish fans in my house! We love, love, love to make them so spicy that your eyes are watering while you’re eating them! Sounds delish!!

    1. The crawfish weren’t too spicy this time…but, man, the potatoes and corn? Eyes watering and nose running at all of the tables.

  7. grandma Pat says:

She may have been born in Georgia but a little of Texas is definately running through her veins.

  8. Awww, she could come live here with me and fit right in! HA! That’s great that she loved them. 🙂

    1. Yeah, she’s a southern girl at her roots! And, yes, Georgia is in the south, but it’s not the same at Texas!

  9. Haha! Isn’t that funny? It amazes me sometimes what my kids will eat that I would never even TOUCH as a kid. I’m glad they are more adventurous than I was as a kid. 😉

I’m surprised she even wanted to touch it much less eat it. They are creepy looking things. But yummy! 🙂

    1. Yes, very creepy. Why can’t they serve them without the eyeballs?

  10. nat is sooooo braver than me!! i don’t think i could ever eat crawfish – like i just made a face just thinking about it!!

    1. Maybe if somebody peeled it for you? It tastes a lot like shrimp…wait, you don’t like that, either…nevermind:)

  11. Eek! Just looking at that thing freaks me out (let alone eating it!). What a brave little girl.

    1. Oh, she is the bravest and riskiest kid! She’ll climb and jump on anything, too!
