Because I’m embarrassed to admit it
We had a little girls night out planned. A little dinner and maybe a drink and just some chatting and hanging out. I had gone shopping with my sister and had the perfect new outfit to wear
Then, it got cold. Like in the upper 30s cold and dark. But, I was going to wear it, because hello, it’s cute (and, it’s fits and whisker free). Cute, right?

I digress.
Girls Night Out
The ladies and I had a fun time chatting it up. We kept the conversation very interesting and kept each other on our toes.
I even checked in with Mr. Serious (who isn’t in fact ICE M…I just cut off the rest of his name) to make sure E had calmed down.
Only, instead, I asked if he calmed down. Whoops. He took it like a champ, though.
It was time to go and our waitress had already separated the check out for us (thank you!). The other three handed over their credit cards. I quickly did my math in my head and gave her my exact change + tip so she didn’t need to do anything else with mine.
We hung out a little longer then we all went our separate ways. I got home and Mr. Serious and I were recapping our evenings and it hit me. I meant to leave $3.65 (20%) for our waitress and I only left her $2.65 (less than 15%). I’m so embarrassed. I waited tables in both high school and college. I understand the importance of a good tip. I’m also embarrassed that I have an advanced degree and a math minor and I totally botched it. Yes, it’s only a $1, but it’s the meaning behind it. Next time we are in that area, I’m going to make sure to run in and give her at least $1 and apologize, because that’s what we should do, right?
The Clothes
Maybe it was the compliments about my outfit from Mr. Serious that had gone to my head and clouded my mathematical skills. Who knows. But, I’ll take it. I found the super cute pants and shirt at Cato. I had actually never been into a store before and had to look up where it was. When we walked in (I went with my sister), we were super impressed with how cute the new dresses were. Worried about the price, we found that all three of these were under $30! Score. Cute and affordable.
My jeans and shirt combo was just under $40. And for those looking, they had the full range of sizes from petite and size 0 to plus sizes to fit all women. My sister was super happy she got to come along because she’s found another store to check out once her little one gets here.
Take home message
Just because your hubby compliments you on your looks, doesn’t mean you should forgo double checking the calculator and being a good tipper.

Aww you look cute I always forget about Cato they have some nice outfits. I never calculate tip. If I go out I normally leave between 5 to 10 bucks depending on where we go and how good the waiter was. If the waiter was horrible I leave nothing. I have only had to do that a couple of times in my entire life.

They have super cute stuff, and inexpensive, so if you lose more, you won’t feel upset about spending a ton!

I really have good math skills..I was just tired, I guess. But, I do like it when places have the 15 and 20% amounts clearly calculated on there for you.
I love the top, it is so pretty. Compliments are powerful things and for many they are often lacking in life, enjoy the words and just think how surprised the waitress will be when you do return

Very cute outfit. Pretty funny I was just at Kroger on Grand Parkway and there is a Cato in the same shopping center. I have never been in and was wondering what they have. Next time, I am going to go in. I love new, NICE CHEAP clothes.

Well, at least the tip was 15% and not something horribly embarrassing. I must admit that I am always a bit of an over-tipper. Especially when the service is really good. Good service is very important to me.
Good service is important to me…especially when I’m out with the kids…I’ve been some places where they treat me terribly because I have my well behaved kids with me and/or I order water (hey, I like water and don’t soda..it’s not a crime, server!)

LOVE the outfit. I totally wear summer clothes in the winter if it’s a night out. I wore a single strap tank in January. Sat by the door and froze my tookus off the whole night. But I looked awesome!
