THIS POST MAY CONTAIN AFFILIATE LINKS. I MAY EARN FROM QUALIFYING PURCHASES.

I thought it would be fun to pull the top 10 popular posts of 2014. Interestingly, some of these weren’t from 2014, but are still popular (as in, most visit). It might be interesting to look at the all time most popular, too…maybe on the 10th anniversary of the blog, which happens in February, I think!

I present to you the top 10 most popular posts in 2014!

Our accidental home birth aka the unplanned unassisted home birth

I still can’t believe it happened, but I wouldn’t have wanted it any other way! It was pretty long, so it came in two parts. I was nice and part one actually went through her arrival, and part two was the Firefighters, EMTs and our ambulance ride. Parts one and two were in the top ten.

The most delicious slow cooker/ Crockpot taco/burrito meat

This Crockpot taco/burrito meat gets cooked at least twice a month in our house, if not more. Everybody loves it. Everybody we shared the recipe with loves it. It won’t disappoint. We enjoy it in leftovers, too. I’ve been known to put it in my eggs for breakfast, too.

Back to School Printables

Everybody was taking pictures of their kids on the front porch, by the bus, at school for the first day. I have done all the way from pre-K to 5th grade, but if prompted, I could probably do the additional grades! These back to school signs are great for those pictures. Once you download, you can even add a date to it.

Breakfast and Pajamas a First Birthday Party Theme

E’s first birthday party was actually in 2013, and despite the pin counter showing zero pins, it’s been very popular. The breakfast and pajama party was a huge hit both in person and on the blog. I highly recommend this type of party for little kids. It was so much more relaxed and still a ton of fun. And, everybody loved the food!

  6. Those are all great posts. I loved reading about your accidental home birth. That is definitely one of my favs. Also, top things not to say to a large family. You know I’ve heard a few crazy things myself and it always baffles me.

I hope you and your beautiful family have a fantastic, healthy, and HAPPY New Year!

    1. I hope you guys had a fabulous new year, too!

Yeah, people sometimes shouldn’t open their mouths. I actually ignored somebody at a store yesterday as I was trying to get stuff and babies out of the cart. She said “are they all girls?” I mean they were all in pink, so I figured it was a rhetorical question. But, the oldest did answer for me:)

  7. This is a great idea, and as a fellow blogger, I did something very similar on my blog. However mine’s only been up since April 2014 so all the posts were 2014, but instead of most visited, I did most shared in countdown format. It’s a cool idea and great minds think alike!

    1. That’s a cool idea! I would have had a hard time finding my most shared ones….I’d have to scour pinterest, I think!

      1. I did it mostly based on Facebook likes and Twitter shares. Those are both visible in each post so it was easy to find. I have a plugin that periodically tweets old posts so I searched my Twitter for how many times those had been shared and deducted my own posts from the ned numbers so that they were all shares from readers.

        1. Ahh…that makes sense. I have like 2000 posts, so it would take a while to figure that out:)

          1. My blog is less than a year old so it was pretty easy, but I think if I do it again at the end of this year, I’ll still only do it from 2015 posts which will make it easier. I might also link to my top ten of 2014 in my year end post for this year too though. Then people can still read the posts from last year.

  8. You have had an eventful 2014 to say the least! I’ll definitely try your French toast casserole recipe, It looks delicious.

    1. And this wasn’t even all of the awesome!

Let me know what you think. I made it for Christmas morning this year and it was a hit with all of the extended family as well.

I’m glad that I finally stopped by your blog – it’s great! Reading over B’s birth story and I am amazed at your awesomeness. I’m also transported back to my own experience. I believe I could’ve had Gage on the toilet, as well. I went through transition and felt the urge to push quickly. Things went from zero to 60! Being a first timer, I had no clue what was going on. I had to fight the urge to push for an entire HOUR before we got to the hospital and the midwife said it was time. NO SHIT, lady. I had high hopes of a water birth but there was no time.

I hated the damn hand IV (horrible pain) but had to leave it in for 24 hours because of my after-birth experience. I don’t believe my body had the time to really adjust for Gage’s delivery, so I had 2 tears and lost a lot of blood. I passed out 3 times afterwards! Thanks the heavens they had me on iron supplement…I don’t even want to imagine…

BTW, I’m with Intown Midwifery and they used to use Bootstaylor for their ultrasounds. He is one awesome dude! I might be persuaded to transfer to See Baby for the next one!

    1. I’m always impressed and slightly jealous of first timers that go from 0 to 60 so quickly. My first took over a day!!!

I fought the urge for a while and finally it was the ONLY thing that felt good (pushing), and in those moments, I cared about nothing else. I can’t believe you waited an hour. You get all the bonus points for that!

Those IVs suck big time, it sounds like it was pretty important to saving your life! My hand hurt for weeks after and I only had to have in the ambulance and upon arrival until I peed (which was stupid, because I drank the whole time, so when I peed it was almost a liter!)

I don’t know what I would do if I was having another. I was happy with Intown for sure, but I also really liked Bootstaylor! Like a lot! I couldn’t believe I sat in his office to have an appointment and that HE called me on the phone. That man is amazing and I don’t know how he gets any sleep!

  10. I remember how excited I was to finally hear B’s birth story! It was a wild ride, and to think, I was only hours from having seen you.

  11. I am not surprised that B’s birth story posts were in the top 10! It was a crazy (COOL) story!
