Mr. Serious and I started The 30 Day Shred this week.
The first two days, we were so sore, it was hard to hold out munchkin or even walk. By day three, we were feeling better.
It has become our nightly routine. We get together every night and do our Shred.
Wednesday, day 5, he had Bible Study, so we had to “get our Shred on” before a certain someone went to bed.
So, she joined us.
She was a really trooper.
It was so cute to watch her, too. This was the only chance I had to take a picture…you really don’t get a break during the workout.
She did her version of jumping jacks and jump rope and was even trying to take our weights from us (we finally convinced her two plastic animals were good weights).
Even the sit-ups weren’t a challenge for her. It was almost like she’s done them before.
She did the first half before she got bored and did a puzzle.
It was a fun way for us to show her the importance of exercising and taking care of yourself. And, we also showed her that it’s important that Mommy and Daddy take the time to exercise together, too.
We bought the machine (which happened to come with it’s own lube?).
We were ready.
Elliptical and fitness here we come.
And, you all are laughing now, right?
What was I thinking? I was 7 months pregnant with a one and a half year old and a full time job! HAHA! That so didn’t happen.
I think I have been on the elliptical about 3 times since we bought it.
Mr. Serious did a little better. And then Natalie got here.
And 6 months later…we’ve got to get in shape. And, it isn’t just about the fitness, either. We are both tired and cranky. We need the escape. We need to sweat and get out our day’s frustrations.
Yesterday, I told Mr. Serious when he got home that we were exercising. I told him I would start at 8 and he gets 8:30. Once I said it out loud, I had to do it. He was my accountability partner. And it worked. We both did it.
Now I’ve just got to keep at it. The first time is the hardest and then it gets easier. I should know this. I’m a certified aerobics instructor.
So, I’m going to stick with it. I have to. So I can be a better wife and a better mother! Here’s to fitness! (And, now I have to get over the fact that I’m going to have to wash my hair more!)

Wii-a mini little thing that can be used as a torture devise Fit-the opposite of me itis-inflammation
Yes, that’s right. I am so out of shape. My Wii Fit has me hurting in places I have forgotten even existed. I have Wii Fit-itis forearm from tennis. I have Wii Fit-itis hips from hula hoop game. I have Wii Fit-itis quads from the lunges. It’s a good thing, right?
In addition to Wii Fit, hubby received Dance, Dance Revolution Hottest Party 2 from yours truly. If you don’t have this game, you must get it. It is hilarious. Yes, we have rhythym and we can dance, but man, this game is hard. Just watch this “expert.”
We are the complete opposite of this.
It is hilarious. During the game, it says “nobody moves like you.” That’s right DDR, that’s because nobody wants to move like me. Let’s just say, I get all ghetto…my booty starts moving and I have fun. You should see me do Tootsie Roll.
So, yes, I am out of shape, but I’m working on it. It is so fun, Wii Fit-itis and all!

Matt told me yesterday to make sure that he worked out. So, I did. And being a good, supportive wife (and having a little inspiration from Steph), I worked out with him. Mind you, it was after teaching a class Wednesday night and a class last night, I did a cardio Taebo! It was really quite an easy workout, and I’m not a fan of Billy Blanks, but we were inside and we did it.
Matt made me laugh on a couple of occasions. He was wanting to punch Billy at some points. Then, he was saying that the “maker didn’t mean for us to move that way.” Of course, I agreed with that. Billy does some stuff that I don’t quite agree with. Then you either do a few of one thing and just when your heart rate gets up, you stop, or you do a million sets. Or you do 4 on one side and 40 on the other side. I always feel very off balance after a work out like that. Again, it was 30 degrees outside, so I can’t complain too much.
We had a good time and it was good to work out together. Now, I just have to get Matt to stay on the program. He did really good earlier this year and lost about 25 pounds, but he has almost gained it all back.
Hopefully, I can help him stay on track and get myself a little more fit in the process.
