Krystyn

I will never hide my feelings well.

I will always tell it like it is.

I will never be the cool kid.

I will always feel like the odd one out.

I will never really feel included.

I will always get bored easily.

I will never enjoy jumping through hoops.

I will always take things personally.

I will never have a sense of style.

I will always correct you when I think you are wrong.

I will never be ahead of the gang.

I will always have high expectations.

I will never accept less than I deserve.

I will always like change.

I will never be thick-skinned.

I will always want to learn more.

I will never spend money on myself first.

I will always think it is me you are laughing at or whispering about.

I will always be self conscious.

I will always love with all my heart and soul.

I will always be ME.

I must ask Isabelle to let me take pictures of her too often. Because lately, she keeps wanting to take pictures of me.

And since I have my fabulous Nikon D60 and it’s a little bit heavy (and might or might not be one of my babies) I tell her she has to wait for daddy to get home so he can help.

As soon as Mr. Serious walked in the door last night, Izzy said “I want to take a picture of mommy.” Once he figured out what she meant, they went and got the camera.

Isn’t this one a fabulous picture? Apparently, the door was the focus. And, I only look slightly spooked.

However, I’ve decided that all pictures of me must now be taken from this angle because I feel like my arms look like they lost 10 pounds each!

Then, she wanted one of her sister…so she snapped away.

Then the “pickles.” (Side note, we bought these at the farmer’s market and the first one was delicious…the last three, the skin was horribly bitter. We are talking spit it out, directly into the trashcan bitter…yuck!)

And, Natalie’s cereal. I think this one was definitely composed the best. Slight angle, in focus and hiding her sister:)

I don’t think we’ll be buying Isabelle a camera any time soon! Or, at least she can play with the point and shoot some more!

Looks like a million hundred bucks!

We had family pictures done since Mr. Serious was off. And, while this quality is horrible (I took a picture of the picture using my phone), they really turned out quite well.

And, the hundred bucks? What I spent on our clothes. New clothes make you feel good, right? And, so does a haircut, too. And, if you follow me in twitter, you’ll know that I actually got my cut for free! Mr. Serious even said he felt like a hundred bucks!

Poor Natalie was terrified of the flashes, so we took what we could get.

Hope everybody has a happy and safe 4th of July.

What’s in a name?

April 30, 2009 in Krystyn, about me

My name is a quandary to most. Well, I guess I should say the spelling of my name.

When, they hear it or see it, they say “oh, how unique” or “isn’t that pretty” or “wow, two ‘y’s.”

My response “Yeah, my mom hates me!”

Seriously. Every single time I have to spell my name out, I wonder what the heck my mom was thinking (sorry mom, love you, but the spelling? It’s a little crazy!).

Over the phone is the best.

I call any company; the doctor’s office, credit card company, friend to leave a message and this is pretty much how it goes.

Person on the phone: What is your name?
Me: Krystyn Lastname (which is very easy to spell)
POTP: Is that with a ‘c’ or a ‘k.’
Me: option 1 :K. (If I’m feeling snarky, that’s all I give them…it’s a fun game!)
option 2: Let me spell it for you. K-R-Y-S-T-Y-N.
POTP: K-R-I-S-T-Y-N.
Me: No, K-R-Y-S-T-Y-N.
POTP: K-R-Y-S-T-E-N.
Me: No, two ‘y’s, there are two ‘y’s.
POTP: So, it’s K-R-Y-Y-S-T-E-N.
Me: No, not two ‘y’s in a row. There are no vowels. Just ‘y’s in place of the ‘i’ and ‘e.’
POTP: Oh, okay, I get it. K-R-Y-S-T-Y-N. Oh, how unique.
Me: grumbling Yes, yes it is.

If it isn’t important, I just tell them to spell it however they want. After correcting people for 28 twenty-one years, I’m over it!

And for the record…the best mispronunciation of my name? Cry-stein! Yep. And, that was a counselor at my school in high school. That knew me. 4 years! At least she helped me get a rocking scholarship. (A close second is Christine.)
