In addition to writing sentences and learning Mandarin Chinese, she is doing fun things like making guitars out of tissue boxes and paint stirring sticks.
I love that she even plays her guitar with her left hand! Now, where did she learn that fancy leg move?

Well, the title pretty much explains it, right?
My sister and her now fiancé got engaged this summer!
We are so excited for them and can’t wait for "Uncle David" to join the family*!

My cow girl boots arrived today, so I’m one step closer to my required attire for their Texas wedding.
*David. So sorry. You get us all. Welcome to the craziness!

I can’t take credit for this picture. David hired his friend to capture the entire thing. He couldn’t have done it any better!
Picking up artwork at school is always fun.
You go to the folder, grab the artwork, keep the youngest from destroying everything stapled onto the wall and try to get both kids out of the room in one piece and without crying (them) or yelling (you). What? That never happens to you?
I don’t really get a chance to check out the work until I get home.
I started flipping through the stack of green sheets.
"Oh, good honey. Look at you practicing your letters. I see "A"s and "D"s and "I"s and "O"s and "P"s Great job!"
Flipping to the next half-sheet.
"Oh, it looks like you stamped an "X" in the middle and then, I see some fingerprints. Nice job!"
"Sweetheart. What is this masterpiece you have drawn? I can’t figure it out and need you to explain it to me."
"Mommy, that’s an "I" and two "O"s."
Whew. So glad she cleared that one up!

The girls were playing in their rooms when I heard a "mommy" call. Usually, that means, somebody has something that isn’t theirs, somebody is getting their hair pulled, or somebody has their teeth in their sibling’s skin.
Then, I heard the rest; "mommy, come take our picture. Quick, mommy."
And, I grabbed my camera and ran upstairs to find my two sweet girls cuddling on each other in the glider. The glider that I nursed them both in, sang to them both in and comforted them both in almost every night for at least the first 18 months of their lives.

I wonder if that same scenario is how this picture was captured of my sister and me twenty-some-odd years ago? Something tells me it was pretty similar.

Apparently, we have a gene that makes us pose oldest on one side, youngest on the other, too!

Maybe in another twenty-some-odd years I will have a picture of my girls hanging out side-by-side in a pool.

Much like her last art project, Natalie was determined to put just as much paint on herself (her face included) as she was her paper.
And, also like last time, she’s quite proud of herself.

Her sister, however, took a much more modest approach, insisting on wearing her apron, and using a paint brush for finger paint.
Thankfully, it was nice hot day outside, and it was washable paint. So, once again, we ran out to the back patio and had an impromptu hose washing.
And, well, Isabelle just enjoyed playing in the water unexpectedly.
