Every year with back to school brings new and exciting products for everybody. Ranging from preschoolers all the way up to college kids (and even the adults that support them!) We have recently checked some out that were sent to us or that we just enjoy and wanted to let you know about them.
is an early education tool and app for preschoolers through Kindergarten. It is chalk full of activities for kids of the younger ages to do and will appeal to many of them. It had basics like learning to trace letters as well as books to read along with.
Our Kindergartener has a great time learning and playing with setting clocks. Our two year old has been playing with some of the fun toddler features.
ABCMouse.com can be used via the web on a computer, or the app can be installed on an iPad. I like that they sync between the computer and iPad and that I can follow their progress through the parent dashboard.
It is completely free to libraries across the UnitedStates if you want to use it without paying for a subscription.
makes some awesome audio equipment. I’ve checked out their Tracks Air before and they are awesome! Recently we purchased a desk top computer as a back up as well as a computer for the girls to use. The computer has a very quiet built-in speaker, but at full-volume, it’s a smidge above a whisper at best. So, I paired up the DECK via bluetooth and now we can hear! The sound quality is fabulous because we are able to hear things and details of music that we were never able to hear with the built-in speaker.
Just in time for back to school,
has launched the “Fight for Your Write” campaign, which reinforces how fun and empowering writing can be. Words have such a powerful meaning and it’s important that we practice writing and show our students have empowering it can be. You can check their site for information about writing and tips from literacy expert Pam Allyn to help parents, caregivers and students make a commitment to write more often.
My oldest loves writing her own stories and we encourage it as much as she wants. Even when it means supplying her with so many notebooks and writing utensils. The stories come in a variety of colors, but they are all so awesome. My favorites are the ones that tell about our family adventures!
We also encourage the writing of notes to family and friends! Who doesn’t like to receive a written note in the mail?
Scotch Duck Tape
has never been more fun. Sure, you can still get the silver stuff, but now it comes in all of these fun patterns and colors.
Scotch Duct Tape is hosting a Back-to-School contest that asks teens to create an original back-to-school craft with duct tape and submit a photo that shows how you are going back to school in style for a chance to win $1,000. Remember the girl that made her prom dress out of Scotch Duct Tape? Yeah…that’s what they are looking for!
The Tape On Back-to-School contest just launched and lasts until August 18th on the Scotch Color & Pattern Tape Facebook page. The contest will include prizes for the top four winners with second place receiving $500 and third and fourth place receiving $250.
I’m definitely not the crafty type to create something original, but I did make some homemade hand cleaner and then wrapped the bottle in the requested Barbie Scotch Duct Tape. Wrap all the things in tape!

They also teach fun facts, too. For example, with the cookie state features, each one features a US state, highlighting both its shape, spelling and capital and abbreviation.
In addition to the US state cookies, they also have the US presidents and English/Spanish cookies, which are available in single serving and family size boxes. The only problem? They taste so good you have to make sure the kids eat them slow enough to read them first!
