Getting Play Time Moving with My Sensory Box

THIS POST MAY CONTAIN AFFILIATE LINKS. I MAY EARN FROM QUALIFYING PURCHASES.

You would think, being a teacher, I would totally have summer activities nailed. However, that’s not the case. I’m not so good with the activities for the littles. So, when I was offered the opportunity to try out a new subscription service aimed at creating a fun imaginative place for kids, I jumped at the chance. My girls have great imaginations and My Sensory Box was perfect for all of them!

My Sensory Box Review

This past month’s box was the Garden Box. It was filled with garden tool, various insects, finger puppet bees, garden gnomes, various garden vegetables, garden pots, seed packets, pom-poms, and endless imagination. (It came with a warning for ages 3+. I made sure to watch E closely and she didn’t put anything in her mouth).

My Sensory Box Review

The girls had a great time playing with the pom poms. They were sorted by size and color and dumped out on my floor more times than I can count. (In fact, I still find them in various corners of rooms they have played with them in). We’ve had the kit for a couple weeks, and they have played with it almost every day.

One day, while the bigger girls and I were doing a kitchen project (making dirt dessert), E joined us at the table and played with the garden. She sat with us for almost 30 minutes and had a great time. Also, she learned how to say the word “pepper” and it’s pretty much the cutest thing I’ve heard. So, she will find it, hold it up to us and say “pepper.” (Yes, she’s holding a tomato here…she hasn’t said that yet).

My Sensory Box Review

You can purchase My Sensory Box monthly for $26.95 for the 1st Month Trial Offer* ($29.95 / Per Month After Trial Offer*) or annually and receive a themed sensory items including filler for 12 months of play delivered with one month free for $330 / year.

This month’s box will be a math box. I like the idea of the numbers in different forms as well as the bears and cubes. I would have to get a handle on the amount of box dumping that happened with the rice in there!

  2. What a fantastic idea! This looks awesome!!

  3. I have never heard of this before, “I usually make my own sensory bins – love the idea of having one sent to me instead of making one!

    1. I’m not creative to think of making my own, so showing up at my house is definitely the way for me!

  4. My daughter would especially love this sensory box. We have a garden and she’s always asking questions about the vegetables.

  5. That looks like a great subscription. My tip for the rice… when we make sensory boxes with rice, I get out a flat sheet (queen or bigger, if possible), and have them play on that. It makes cleaning up all the rice that “escapes” much, much easier.

    1. Great tip! I will have to remember that! Otherwise, I know I would find rice all over the place.
