Knowing I was cooking pizzas and we were all going to make our own with our DIY pizza bar, I thought a fun dessert pizza would be good, too. I didn’t really know how I was going to pull it off, just that I wanted to have dessert that night that was gluten and dairy free and wasn’t sorbet or fruit. It’s nice to splurge every once and a while. I came up with a gluten-free dairy-free apple dessert pizza and everybody is asking for more!

Since it was just me eating the regular gluten free pizza crust, after pre-cooking it, I cut it in half; leaving half for the dinner pizza and half for the dessert. I also had a thin crust prepared pizza for the girls that I used to make their dessert pizza. I picked up both the crust types at ALDI, but there are a lot of options.

I also purchased a bag of granny smith apples and some all-natural blueberry applesauce (but any flavor would work). I had cinnamon, sugar, powdered sugar and coconut oil on-hand already at home.

I thinly sliced the apples, put a bit of coconut oil on them (you could use butter here, or even just the juice from one lemon) and then sprinkled cinnamon and sugar on top and tossed.

The girls and I munched on a couple of these apples because they were delicious just like this.

On one half of the crust, I brushed on some coconut oil, on the other side, I spread a container of the blueberry applesauce. Then I topped with the cinnamon and sugar apples.

It went into the oven at 425F for 8 minutes and then out it came. During the cooking process, I mixed the powdered sugar with a little water to drizzle over the top of the pizza. But, I was a little impatient and the pizza was still very hot, so it sort of melted on top of the apples. That didn’t matter to us, because it was amazing. This is the thin crust (gluten-full) pizza.

And, here is my little slice of yummy dessert heaven! And, yes I only shared a little bit with Mr. Serious when he got home…and that was only so I didn’t eat it all by myself!
