Ahhhh…date night with the hubby. Very, very long overdue. With everything that’s happened this month, we really needed some solo, grown-up, couple time.
And, we finally got some last weekend.
It involved a hour each way trip in the car. One where we could pick the music (Foo Fighters) and there as no yelling or questions from the backseat. Yeah, it was nice.
We headed out to Holiday Inn in Gwinnett with their newly remodeled “The Hub” social area, for dining, hanging out, watching TV, playing games, and most importantly, chilling outside under the cabana!
Of course, we had to ask for a picture. To document this night out and make sure we remembered it.
Not only did we enjoy each other’s company, but we also enjoyed some delicious food, and Mr. Serious partook in some of their trademark beverages.
1 and 2. The menu. Yummy food. Not too extensive. Just front and back. 3. A personal TV in our booth. On or off, our choice. Mr. Serious was able to enjoy some college football (sound off), and I pretended like I knew what was going on. 4. Appetizer #1: Firecracker Shrimp. So pretty. A little spicy and a little kick (a little on the chewy side, too). 5. Apps #2 and 3: Grilled Macaroni a Cheese with tomato soup and Hummus with pitas and fresh veggies. Mr. Serious really enjoyed the Texas toast with mac n cheese in the middle and I devoured the hummus! 6. Dinner time. Mr. Serious had a steak. Even after all the apps, he finished all of it. Broccoli and potatoes included. Very tender. Very fresh. 7. Signature drink, The Bee Sting. Said it didn’t taste strong, but had a bite at the end! 8. Homemade and handbattered chicken tenders and homemade potato chips. DELICIOUS! Even better the next day:) 9. Fish and chips sliders. Also delicious. 10. Holy cow S’mores on a waffle. With ice cream, and fire-roasted marshmallows. Wishing we would have started with dessert. 11. Their version of a strawberry shortcake on a waffle. Yeah, also delicious. Mr. Serious might have eaten pretty much all of 10 and 11 by himself. Not sure where he put it. 13. The entrance to the bar and the eating area. Right off off 14. the lobby which is airy and open and has computers, books, games and seating for you to enjoy.
Yeah, we ate too much and enjoyed our time! It was nice place to hang out for the evening, and even better if you were staying at the hotel and had a nice place to hang out without being locked in your room!
