If one picture could sum up our quick weekend trip, I’d say this has to be it!  She did this totally on her own, and if you can’t see the joy in her face, then I don’t know what you are looking at!

couldn't be happier.JPG

We drove to the Great Wolf Lodge in Charlotte/ Concord, just a few hours north of here.  We didn’t tell the girls, well, until the oldest guessed where we were headed when we said we were in North Carolina.

We checked in, immediately changed into our suits, put on our robes (yes, I put my robe on too) and we were off to the indoor water park.  Amazingly, I remembered that we were freezing after exiting the park and walking to our room last year, so I scooped these up and was so thankful.

I think the girls were pretty happy about them, too.

We went and played sans camera the first day, just to check things out and play.  The girls had a blast.  That is an understatement.  Slide after slide after slide!  It was hard for us to keep up.  The joy on their faces was the most memorable!

We went and went and went and then went back to the room, changed quickly and headed to dinner.  I can’t believe the girls didn’t eat more for how hard they played.  But, they were so interested in the food that we didn’t see the Christmas show with the “snow.”  They weren’t too bothered by it, though.

That night, the girls slept in the same bed for the first time. It went surprisingly well.  When I went to check on them, they were all snuggled together.  It might have brought a tear to my eye.

Rested and ready to go, they had donuts for breakfast and wanted to go back to the water park.

#2 was sooo excited to see the bucket.  It dumps around 1000 gallons of water and she thought it was hilarious and awesome.  “Mommy, the bucket.  It’s going to dump over.  They are going to get wet!”

Then, she was ready for the slide again.  She went down that thing like she’s done indoor water slides her entire life.  Look at that smile.

And, this smile, too!

Yep, and that one.  Pretty sure it never left her face.

She was all smiles, too, my cautious first born.  It did take her a little while longer to warm up to the idea of the slides, but she eventually did the bigger ones with the tubes with daddy, Grammi and Gramps!  She thought it was awesome.

And, daddy even had a matching smile.  They loved this.

The whole family (and random hibiscus trunks dude) was excited to wait for the bucket to dump on them.

Patiently waiting….

And waiting…

And, there it is.  They were soaked…and they loved it!

I think it’s safe to say, we’ll be back next year, too.  And, the girls totally remembered.  They asked if we were going to go back every winter.  I guess we’ve started a tradition!

While we didn’t hit up Snowland this year, it really was a fun time for the girls last year.  And, a new addition this year is the life-sized gingerbread house (made of food, of course) in the lobby.  You can even make reservations to eat your meals there!

    1. I guess since we are “mild” here, we don’t have as many. This was like a 3.5 hour drive, and another one is about the same in a different direction.

      But, it was definitely fun!
