Happy 5th Birthday, I!

#1.  My sweet #1.

Goodness.  How did we get here?

You are one whole hand.  All fingers and one thumb.  Like next year, it’s two hands.  I can’t comprehend it.

(Sidenote, if you want to find an overly emotional person, find a woman who has two little girls that are growing up right before her eyes, with birthdays one day apart and be pregnant.  Yep, that will do it.   One day, you’ll understand sweetheart!)

I remember when you were born like it was yesterday, too.  It was scary, not because of what was happening during your birth as it was you were making me a mom.  Making me responsible for somebody else’s life.  And, I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Happy 5th birthday

You are smart, beautiful and wonderful.  You are adding and just started subtracting today.  You write us notes (and wrote the sweetest note to your teacher…I might have cried).  Your kindness (well, let’s be honest, like 90% of the time) is overwhelming.  You really want to make people happy.

That smile.  Kills me every time.  You can light up a room with it.  (And, you can equally let a room full of people know you are done with that eye roll you have perfected).

And, your freckles?  Can I just say how much I love them?

Mommy was so proud of you Wednesday, too.  We went WAY outside of our element and saw a Disney on Ice show that started late (7:30) downtown, but I just knew it was going to be like the best thing you’ve been to and it didn’t disappoint.

But, I wasn’t proud of you just because you did so well staying up late and having good manners.

You got the opportunity to be the only kid to help with the lantern lighting at the end of the show with Repunzel and Flinn.  You stood on the corner stage all by yourself and held that lantern until they came over.  And, you didn’t get scared.  You didn’t look for me.  You just patiently waited.

And, before I could get another picture, they were there and lifting the lantern into the sky.

And, you got to hug both of them, too.

Wow.  I was just in awe of you.  You’ve even said before “I don’t like everybody looking at me.”  Honey, I think you might be wrong.  You were center stage.  My perfectly wonderful first born.

When were walking back to the car, people called across the street to you and told you you did a good job!

Yeah, pretty proud of my ALMOST five year old.

Last night, you didn’t get into bed until 11pm!  And, like clockwork, you were up at 6:30.  But, tonight when I snuck in your room about 15 minutes after you went to bed, you crashed.

And, now, this is your last sleep as a four year old (and to be honest, you will turn five in your sleep tonight at 12:29, but I’m not going to wake you!).

Happy, HAPPY fifth birthday to my sweet #1.  I love you!
