It’s tricky business figuring out your new baby. Each and every one of them is different and they each like to be comforted and soothed in different ways. For example, my first three girls loved/love their pacifiers. B, on the other hand? You would think you are putting a toxic poison in her mouth. She won’t even try to suck on it. She’s all about licking and sucking on her hands. I’m curious to see if it results in sucking her thumb/finger.

For a while, she was extra cuddly snuggly and wanted to be held and fall asleep on me. I love it. I love that she wants to be snuggled on me. But, sometimes, I need to get up and do things, like make dinner (or blog…see computer stage left!)

One thing that makes this a million times easier and possible is the LALABU Soothe Shirt™. It’s a shirt that was designed with newborns in mind and can be used to soothe infants up to 15 pounds (right now, B is 12.5lbs at 3 months old, so I’d guess roughly 4 months!) And, you can wear it for the entirety of your breastfeeding relationship.

You see, the Soothe Shirt™ is made for you to both nurse with it and to wear your baby in the pouch. It as a little part build-in for head support until your baby needs it. B is pretty good at holding her head up and didn’t really need it here.

But once she relaxed a little more and snuggled in, we used it to keep her head supported.

So you can see the shirt better, here it is with the pouch folded down, so you have access to the cross panels to breastfeed. The shirt actually has a built-in shelf bra, so you don’t have to wear a bra with it. Also, you cannot feed your baby while in the pouch, you must remove them to nurse.

(I left my bra on. It does make the shirt fit a little tighter, but I’m still having some pretty significant leakage and need all the pressure on the girls I can get). It’s super easy to remove them from the pouch and feed them all while wearing the shirt.

My favorite part? When she falls asleep nursing, I can ease her back into the pouch without too much disruption. She can snuggle right back into her little pouch and I can get to the things that I need to do with three other littles underfoot.

At LALABU they “Work For New:” Lives Lalabu is named to honor the woman who taught them how to wrap babies on a trip to Burkina Faso. They work one day each week to help women in Atlanta and give $1 of each sale back to women in Africa. I really like to support companies that support others besides themselves.

It’s nice to have a way to soothe my baby with the same shirt that I can also breastfeed her in. And, the fact that if she does fall asleep, in those times where I can’t sit and hold her, I can tuck her into the pouch and continue on with my activities.
