Building up to this week, the forecast wasn’t looking good. Snow. Ice. Cold. Very cold. All predicted. But still the yuck. Fortunately, most people remembered how terrible it was here three years ago when this was forecasted.

If you want a quick recap of that time, we had four kids, the youngest was about 4 weeks old, and the next youngest wasn’t 2. School released early but things went from bad to awful quickly. Mr. Serious was stuck on a freeway on a commuter bus until he decided to get off at 9pm and walk to a coworkers house…where he stayed the next two nights. So, yeah, this time, school got out early and Mr. Serious worked from home.

We didn’t get the 4-6 inches that was maybe forecasted. In fact, I’m not sure we ever got real snow. All I saw and heard was rain and sleet. So we woke up Saturday morning to an icy mess.

The kids though sledding down our icy hill was a blast. And came inside often to warm their hands by the fire.

At the end of one evening (they are blurring together), I was cooking dinner and B wanted to be held. I asked her to get the carrier. She said no. About 1 minute later, she came back with it and asked to go up. I can’t blame her, either. She loves the LILLEbaby woven complete just as much as I do! It’s like butter!

I was making silly faces to cure the grump. It didn’t work and I got a ton of side eye.

So much side eye.

The fire warmed everybody and I kept it going for about 3 hours which was kind of a big deal. I forget how much firewood you need to keep a fire going.

I have to admit, after having the school holiday break, then the kids going back Thursday (except B), then the bigs going a half day Friday and no littles going, I’m ready for them to be back at school. I understand the need for safety and I appreciate that. I’m glad the school district is playing it safe and has cancelled school tomorrow. BUT, I sure would appreciate the weather cooperating soon! Everybody needs to be back to their routine and schedule and we haven’t been able to find it yet.

What did you do this week?

All this to say, JUST GET IN THE PICTURE WITH YOUR KIDS! Who cares what you look like? Who cares how you appear? Who cares what you are wearing? JUST DO IT! Since the button code stopped working many moons ago, I took it out. But, if you are adding your link to my link list, please, as a courtesy, add a link back to my site so people can explain and link up themselves if they’d like. After all, that’s the point of the link up!

It’s time again for Mommy and Me Monday. Pop out from behind that camera and capture yourself in action with your kids. 1. All the ice! We’re starting to get bored with Legos… time to break out a toy they haven’t seen in a while!

  2. We spent the weekend in the frigid temps and snow! And now on a day I really need to get into the office, I’m iced into my house. A truck just went by, but he spun out on our hill so I may be here a while longer!

  3. Side eye or not, she is too cute! 🙂 We’re trapped in a mix of snow & ice. My husband managed to get to work for a few hours today, but the kids and I are staying put until it warms up. School is out again tomorrow. Hoping the temperature rises enough that the streets begin to melt so they can go back on Wednesday.

  4. Luckily we don’t get ice storms here in Colorado. We did get snow and two days when the temps didn’t reach 10 degrees.

  5. Ice storms aren’t good. We got snow on Saturday, but it ended up only being an inch or 2. It’s New England, so we don’t freak out here. So there was school today luckily, but it was 0 degrees this morning at the bus stop. Tara went back to school on Jan 3d, but then has the 16th off for Martin Luther King Jr. day.
