Mr. Serious and I celebrate our 12th wedding anniversary today. We tried to list off the major occurrences and events during those 12 years. Suffice it to say, it’s a lot!

We decided that we were going to do something, just the two of us for our anniversary. It didn’t work out to be gone for our actual anniversary, but we are going to Jamaica in January! Yes, we found a travel agent, booked and paid for our travel and got a sitter (aka grandma) to fly in and watch the girls. But, we couldn’t let the day go uncelebrated, even with B in tow. We were invited to try the bison at Ted’s Montana Grill, so I thought it was a perfect time to go.

I don’t think she minds getting us all to herself while her sisters are at parent’s night out!

We started with the homemade chips. They were warm and yummy…and I think B ate half the basket!

I had a bison filet. I never thought I would order, let alone like a bison filet, but it was fabulous. It was oh, so tender and delicious. And, I don’t know how they do it, but their kale salad is absolutely amazing. It’s so tender and flavorful. When I visit Ted’s I try to get their asparagus, too. It’s not overly seasoned and still crispy.

We went to the Kennesaw location (2500 Cobb Place Lane, Suite 210) and they have bison short ribs on Saturdays. I’m certain I’ve never had a short rib and Mr. Serious let me have a try. It was fall-off-the-bone tender.

I’m not ashamed to say that we both (with a little help from B) pretty much finished our entire meals. We did go with an appetite, but everything was so delicious.

If you’ve never tried bison, maybe take a special occasion like an anniversary at Ted’s Montana Grill (they will send you an anniversary coupon for a free appetizer if you sign up for their emails).

Ted’s will support National Bison Day with the chance to win an experience at a Ted Turner Expeditions property through a contest on Facebook. In honor of National Bison Day on November 5, Ted’s Montana Grill launches this experience with Ted Turner Expeditions to commemorate bison’s ecological, cultural, historical and economic contributions to the United States, and to celebrate this year’s legislation officially naming bison as the national mammal.

The contest grand prize includes a luxury three-night stay for two at the Sierra Grande Lodge & Spa in Truth or Consequences, N.M. in addition to a Ted Turner Expeditions Adventure Tour Package. Visit Ted’s Facebook page or http://bit.ly/2e745ym October 25 through November 5 to enter. Secondary winners will receive gift cards to Ted’s Montana Grill.

“Bison represent the American Big Sky Spirit that Ted’s is all about. Celebrating National Bison Day is extremely significant and inspiring this year, since we are able to officially call bison our national mammal,” said George McKerrow, CEO and co-founder of Ted’s Montana Grill. “We’re excited for our winner to experience firsthand the pride we have for this iconic species while visiting a Ted Turner Expeditions property.”

Ted’s Montana Grill, boasting the biggest bison menu in the world, was founded with the mission to bring bison to America’s table, which has contributed to preserving and creating a demand for the species. Bison is continually on the rise as a naturally lean, tender, nutrient-rich protein, making it a healthy diet choice. Signature selections include award-winning burgers, braised bison short ribs, bison meatloaf, bison pot roast, bison nachos and more.
