Mornings are are fun time. Unless you are naturally an early riser. Or you work a late shift and mornings are your evenings. Unless, unless, unless.
Maybe at one point mornings were different. I think they were. But, now it’s craziness. In fact, my ideal morning and actual morning are quite juxtaposed with each other. Such is life, but if we do it with a smile and in our own way, that makes it better, right? RIGHT? I mean, I even turned my morning around recently, so it can be done.
Sometimes, the thing that gets the morning going is something that might be a little bizarre or unorthodox. So much so that you’re almost too embarrassed to admit it. Keyword here is almost. Because when it comes down to it, we don’t hold back any more. What does it take to embarrass people these days, anyways?
For me, it’s German Potato salad. But, not just any German Potato salad. It’s the one my mom makes. With extra bacon. It has to be served hot. If that’s in my fridge, it will get eaten for breakfast. And maybe lunch. Also, dinner.
RaceTrac wants to give its guests the freedom to do – or eat – whatever it is that gets them going in the morning, without feeling any guilt. To RaceTrac, everything is Morning Approved. Even German Potato salad.
Or raspberry banana muffins (if my kids let them last until morning!) Also, the look much better in those other pictures. But, they taste better today. Go figure! Because I don’t have any German Potato salad that my mom has cooked me.
I thought it would be fun to poll some friends and ask if they did anything unusual or unorthodox in the mornings that we could say is morning approved.
I put Joshua to bed in his school clothes so I have one less kid to dress in the morning. -Miranda
It might not really be unorthodox, but I eat non-breakfast foods for breakfast all the time. It’s something I learned works for me. It holds me over more in that I snack less when I do it, and then I eat lunch later, less throughout the day because I’m more content. And when I mean non-breakfast foods, I mean not-breakfast-chicken-sausages, or ground chicken/turkey with marinara and veggies, or well, a list of things. -Andrea
On Fridays, we go through the drive thru and get cheeseburgers and chicken-fries for breakfast. (None of us like fast food breakfast foods. One place serves everything all day and is on the way to school). -Caroline
If there is chocolate out in the morning I will eat it. Also, sometimes I sleep on top of the bed because 1.) I’m too tired to get in it at night and 2.) I don’t have to make it in the morning. -Ashley
I belong to tons of garage FB sites and estate sale sites. When I wake up I search to see what’s new. And I add myself to more sale groups. Not sure why but I like seeing other people’s decor and to see if I can refinish their furniture. Not like I need more work with 3 kids of complete different ages and stages. -Claudia
If there is leftover home made potato salad or squash casserole, that is what I have for breakfast. I even look forward to having it for breakfast. -Karen
B’s pj’s are pj pants are random tshirts. The shirts are sometimes worn as his school clothes the next day, if we are running late. -Noelle
It’s possible that I have a shot of whiskey in my coffee. It’s possible that I particular like Angel’s Envy. It’s definite that it assuages the morning drama of three children. Just sayin’! -Lori (Krystyn note…this is only morning approved if you are staying home and not driving!!!)
Yes potatoes, salad or even Japanese steakhouse left overs!! I eat it thinking I’ll never get any if I don’t eat it before everyone wakes up . -Claudia (Yes, I second this. Those hibachi leftovers always get scooped up if they aren’t eaten first thing!)
