Not my best idea
I had this great idea when our old vacuum stopped sucking. I was going to get a new vacuum cleaner and I was going to research it.
And, I did. And, I got the best rated vacuum by consumer reports.
This new vacuum sucks (in a good way). But, it is also “smart.” It has some lights that tell me if my floor is dirty (and to what degree) or if it happens to be clean.
So, instead of quickly running the vacuum over the floor before friends come over (because I would never do that, my floor is always spotless), I vacuum the same spot approximately 2,523 times because the little light tells me the floor is still dirty.
I say ignorance is bliss. I liked my floor vacuumed and “clean” the old way.
I have a vaccuum with a light too! It is addicting!!
What – this sounds wicked! What kind of vacuum?
My mom has one like that and it took me 30 minutes to vacuum the living room! lol

You should have gotten a Dyson. It doesn't have a light but you know it is clean by all the JUNK it pulls up out of the carpet each time you vacuum!!!

I am so glad I have a stupid vacuum!
LOL. I have used one of those vacuums and it is such a pain. The little light always says "dirt." And it makes me crazy! Cause I'm a perfectionist. 😛

You'll probably eventually just vacuum away the carpet and then you won't have to worry about vacuuming at all!

Seriously!? I don't think I could handle having an appliance that is smarter than I am. Its bad enough that the kids and dog think they are.

Um yeah I'm pretty sure I'd hate that – my floors are probably ALWAYS dirty – it's kind of part and parcel with having young children, right?
Don't trust any vacuum that thinks it's smarter than you are!
I have seen one of those – you almost have to carpet clean the carpets before you vacuum – so the light will go off! LOL!

Oh no! That would drive me crazy. Like I don't obsess over how clean my floor is enough already! I will definitely avoid that vacuum. 😉

Mr. C's mom gave us her old vacuum with the clean/noclean lights and at first I was like "Wow! Look, it can tell when the floor is dirty."
Now I'm like "DAMMIT! It can TELL when the floor is DIRTY!!"

I know exactly what you mean! My parents had one and when I was visiting once I vacuumed for my mom and I was obsessed–haha!

lol that's too funny! I would definitely agree that in this case, ignorance is bliss! I would much rather believe that it's clean after 1 vacuum job!
Mine does this same thing and it drives me mad. I have Hubs do the vacuuming now because I would rather think that the floors are clean than bother with the machine telling me. (And I'm VERY certain Hubs isn't even aware of that functionality!)

I'm with you…ignorance is bliss. I only have so much time in my day to clean and I don't need a vacuum telling me that my cleaning is inadequate.
So, please tell me the brand so that I can avoid going nuts some day.
Ha! I used to have a vacuum like that and I LOVED it….mostly because I had dogs and could never SEE the little hairs that were there….and because I'm slightly neurotic, too. 🙂 I didn't think they still make them though! Sweet. Here's to hoping our vacuum breaks now! LOL.
