B had her very first bath last week. Yes very first. As in, not even a bath at the hospital (finally, a hospital that respected my wishes). Even then, her very first bath was more of a soaking. She just sort of hung out in some warm water for a bit to try to relax and check it out. She did relax and really enjoyed her first “tubby” just like her big sisters did.

When the time comes that we are ready to use a little product on her skin and head, we will be using the Oh My DeVita Baby line.

Oh Baby Wash and Shampoo

They are all-natural, 100% paraben free, PETA Certified, and vegan cosmeceutical skin care made just for babies. We were sent the Bubbly Babies Shampoo & Body Wash, $9.95: A 2-in-1 moisturizing body wash and shampoo both in fragrance-free and calming calendula-scented varieties. Both were very gentle on E’s skin and hair, so we feel okay using them on little. B.

    1. The short answer is to leave the Vernix intact. It’s good for their skin and their bodies to leave it on instead of washing it off. If you read the hynobirthing book, it is discussed there more in detail:)

My little ones love the bath! This time around we’ve done a lot more mommy and baby baths; so relaxing for both of us. When Rosalie got the flu at just a few months old, baths were the only thing that could calm her down. A lot of it was just the sound of the rushing water. It was instantaneous. Love that you found a hospital that didn’t bathe her.
