On a Hay Ride| Mommy and Me Monday | 140th ed

It’s time again for Mommy and Me Monday. Pop out from behind that camera and capture yourself in action with your kids.  Check out the inaugural Mommy and Me Monday for more information.

Having three kids at three different places (elementary school, preschool and home) presents challenges I hadn’t thought of until now. #2 had a birthday celebration two Thursdays ago, her Pumpkin Patch and hay ride celebration this past Thursday and then a scarecrow party this coming Thursday. To me, it’s a bit much.

Of course, the parents are invited and asked to come to everything (without siblings, which whatever, I don’t even understand how they expect one parent to stay home with siblings and one to come, but whatever). I asked on facebook if parents go to all of their children’s events/activities at school. As suspected the answers were all over the place.

I asked because I went to the birthday thing, did I need to go to the two others? Well I decided to go ahead and go to the Pumpkin Patch celebration. And did the hay ride.

Yes, she was happy I was there. So I was happy she was happy.

But, I’m putting my foot down for this scarecrow thing (oh, did I mention she’s supposed to dress as a scarecrow, too? Not even sure how to achieve that). We’ll have a talk about it, and I think it will be good for her to have an event that I’m not there. I know she’ll be just fine.

Mommy and Me Monday at Really, Are You Serious?

**There really is only one requirement here, a picture of you and your baby or babies; your children, your “baby” (ie significant other) or even your fur babies.  If your picture doesn’t feature you (meaning you must be in the picture), I will have to delete your link.  It’s not fair to the others that follow the rules.**

I try to make sure and visit all of you and leave some comment love.  Please spread the love!  And, I never mind the comments, either:)

  1. She will be fine. It’s hard to juggle all the events, I know this too. 🙂

    1. Thanks, Elaine. Mommy guilt is the devil! And, it went just fine without me there.

  2. What a precious picture…. How did Natalie get so big already??? Have a great week. Hugs, Grammy

    1. I don’t know. I guess I haven’t found the pause button yet…it was like all of a sudden she’s wearing her sister’s jeans from last year.

  3. I don’t think you have to be at every single thing. It’s just not realistic for everyone to do that, plus it’s probably good for kids to not have a parent there all the time.

    1. See, that’s my thinking, too, but then the ones that are there for every.single.thing. make me feel guilty. And it’s silly. It was good for her to be a scarecrow this week without me there.

  4. As a costume designer, i can totally help with the scarecrow thing 🙂 Without using real hay, and on the cheap!

  5. I was happy she was happy… isn’t that true?? I love when my girls are happy. That totally makes my day 🙂

  6. Aaaaawwwww!!! The little lady looks so happy!!!!. Three pretty and happy girls!!

    1. Thanks, Katherine..she did like it. And it was nice that it was a surprise for her.

  7. You’re making me tired, just talking about all those different activities! Phew!

Thank you for hosting this linkup — it’s a great challenge to me to put down my pride and get in the darn pictures!

    1. It’s crazy, isn’t it? I see where homeschooling has it’s perks…you get to plan the activities.

So glad you linked up and I hope you continue to do so.

  8. I’m not sure how people do it with more than 1 kid. I only have 1 & there is so much going on. I don’t think my photo worked up there.

    1. I wonder what happened..the link worked, just not the picture.

Sometimes I don’t know, either, but we get it all done.

    1. Yeah, she was…I didn’t tell her I was going to be there.

  9. whew that’s a tough spot! Dressing as a scarecrow.. hmm overalls and flannel is all I can think of.. a straw hat.. im not much help 😛 nor do I have any of those things that would fit Sammy at this moment.

    1. I hope you came back Friday. I had help and she was the cutest scarecrow ever!

  10. Oh, I know! I get so annoyed with each class going overboard so that I am rushing from one thing to the next. I have four kids that each have stuff going on. And what about parents that work? Hello! And then they tell you that you can’t bring younger siblings, well hello! That’s kind of why I still stay home! I have to watch my kids! Ugh.

ANYWAY… at least you got a cute pic out of it. 🙂

    1. It still baffles me that they say this. So, are we supposed to hire a sitter? Or magically have somebody to watch the siblings. I really don’t get it!

  11. I’m so happy I remembered to take and link up a photo! It’s been forever! Love the photo of you and two of your three!

  12. I think if you go to what you can that is enough. Being involved and making your girls happy is what is important. As a parent and a teacher I try to think about how I’d feel on both sides depending on what side I’m looking at a situation (as a parent when my kids have things or as a teacher when I’m asking for things for my students).

    1. It’s good to be able to see both sides of it. I try to remember the teacher side of things…but sometimes it gets to be a lot!

  13. How fun for her! I’ve never been on a hayride.

My daughter is going through the same thing you are although she has 3 in school but 2 are just preschools. She has both girls that have preschool on different days, her son in elementary and the schools are always holding various functions. It’s a job in itself just to have a child in school anymore.

I know exactly what you mean about all of the events! Oh my are we busy! I have a preschooler and a kindergartener. We’ve had 5 birthday parties this month, 2 field trips, Halloween parties (at school AND after school), pumpkin picking, 2 girl scout meetings, 4 dance classes (x2 because both my girls are in different classes, 2 doctors appointments, etc, etc. It never ends, lol!

    1. Seriously…never ends is right! And, there are like 6 birthdays in her class this month and like 4 next month.
