Organizing the Kitchen = One Happy Mama

THIS POST MAY CONTAIN AFFILIATE LINKS. I MAY EARN FROM QUALIFYING PURCHASES.

I admit, I’m not the best organizer. But, with a smaller house and smaller kitchen, and A LOT of people, counter space is a premium. After looking at the giant knife block on our counter for what seemed like forever, we knew we needed a solution to free up some space.

Our “ah-ha” moment came after volunteering at The Fishes and Loaves Kitchen (for people in transition). All of the kitchen knives were placed on a magnetic  bar on the wall. We have the perfect space over our sink not being used!

Boom. Knives over the sink with easy access for tall adult arms. Out of the way for tiny arms. And off of our very limited counter space. It was super easy to put up and after over 4 years of being there, we haven’t had a single problem with it! Magnetic knife holder for the win!

It’s not a huge thing or an amazing thing, but it makes me and my kitchen happy, so I will take it!

What area of your home do you need to tackle, declutter and organize the spring? I challenged my fellow Happy Mamas with the same challenge- and they’re going to be linking up here. If you have an area that you’ve decluttered and is now ready for spring, I would love it if you would link up your post as well!

  1. I like that it frees up counter space, but it just looks so scary. Like, the girls better behave, or else!!!!

  2. Considering how my husband thinks of himself as Emeril Lagasse with all his knife options, this is worth a try. Thanks!

  3. Great idea for freeing up counter space.May have to think about doing this myself.
