Playing with the phone (and momma needs help!) | Mommy and Me (92nd ed)

It’s time again for Mommy and Me Monday. Pop out from behind that camera and capture yourself in action with your kids.  Check out the inaugural Mommy and Me Monday for more information.

I’m playing with a new phone this week (if only it were for keeps) and I discovered it has a camera on the front, too!. So, we had to play with the camera!

But, I have to admit, it’s a little weird because of the way it flips us.

(Oh, and silly #2, when she gets a drop of water on her shirt, she decides it must come off!  Yeah, that’s fun.  Fortunately, it’s only at home.)

Mommy and #2

#1’s a little more reluctant.

Mommy and #1

Now, I need some seasoned/experienced momma help. I’m needing some help or suggestions or something.

Since our girls started sharing a room, nap time and bed time is a disaster. We still have yet to have one successful nap time with both of them in the same room.

They get in each other’s beds, put their doll’s into the ceiling fan, yell, etc. Most of the time, we end up putting #2 on the floor in what will be the baby’s room, but she doesn’t even care.

I’m feeling like a failure because nothing works. Moving them. Bribing them. Taking things away (TV and movie time, games, toys, books and songs). Nothing. They don’t care. Do you have any other hints? I don’t think anything like a sticker chart will work, either. It’s never worked for them before. HELP.

Tonight, they have been in their rooms in bed for TWO HOURS and are still awake and laughing.  It’s been a month.  What else can we do?

Mommy and Me Monday at Really, Are You Serious?

**There really is only one requirement here, a picture of you and your baby or babies; your children, your “baby” (ie significant other) or even your fur babies.  If your picture doesn’t feature you (meaning you must be in the picture), I will have to delete your link.  It’s not fair to the others that follow the rules.**

I try to make sure and visit all of you and leave some comment love.  Please spread the love!  And, I never mind the comments, either:)

  1. no advice. i can’t even imagine. seriously.

so so soooo hoping someone has the magic answer!!

  2. We have four kids, and the girls share a room, and the boys share a room. We do separate bedtimes. Younger ones go down first, when they are asleep, the older ones go.

    1. So, we’ve tried this…but with minimal success. The youngest is still taking over 45 minutes, and she’s still awake. We’ve taken to putting the oldest in another room and then moving her. But, then, is that fair because we are waking her up? I don’t know what to do.

  3. My girls started sharing a room when my son was born in April. It was a challenging transition. Nap time has been hard. My oldest doesn’t take naps anymore, however she still needs rest time. She gets rest time in the loft while her little sister takes a nap. Bedtime I put her sister down first and then my oldest goes down after. But I do most of the routine out of the room. Hopefully we will get to a point where they go to bed at the same time, but it is really challenging!
Sorry I don’t have better advice, maybe we both just need to move to bigger houses! LOL

    1. Ahh…bigger houses. You are on to something:)

We’ve tried the later bedtime, but the youngest just stays up for like an hour!

  4. Grammy Lura says:

How about having N go to bed 30 min. before Izzy. Tell Izzy that she gets to stay up later because she is such a big girl but only on the condition that she tip toes into bed when it is her turn without making a sound to wake up N. It might work????
Good luck…. have a great week. Hugs, Lura

    1. So, we’ve tried it. And, that stinker N will still be awake like 45 minutes later! She doesn’t get upset that Iz doesn’t go to bed at the same time, but it’s like she’s waiting up for her.

  5. Cute pics! We have been lucky as far as the girls transitioning to big girl beds and still sleeping well…so I don’t have any advice to offer, but I think what the few others said about different bed times sounds like a good idea. Good luck!

    1. The girls have always shared a room, though, right? I think that might have you at an advantage.

  6. My kids do this not sharing a room, but their rooms are next door to each other and they somehow feed off each other’s energy to the point where I have given up the pretense of the older napping because it always means his sister gets NO nap at all. As for bedtime, well, eventually they pass out. But yes it must be harder with them in the same room. Wish I had some advice there, good luck!

    1. When they weren’t sharing…they still shared a wall, too!

The eventually passing out? Yeah, doesn’t really happen. We’ve tried and they’ve been up until after 11!

  7. The only thing that works for me is to put the smaller one in my bed at night for them to go to sleep and then transfer him once he’s asleep. I don’t do this every night but when they are being too rowdy, I have to. They don’t nap together (or at all really!) so I have no tips for that one. Sorry. Hope you a can figure something out!!

    1. We’ve been doing this a lot, lately. But, it’s so frustrating.

  8. I tend to think of myself as a pretty good ‘get people to bed’ person, heck I have 3 little people asleep all at the same time right now… but, they all sleep in seperate rooms.

Is Iz ready to get out of a nap? That nap for N has got to be important still. Or I’d break them up, maybe one can sleep in your bedroom in a sleeping bag or something. For me, I can’t imagine them sleeping together during naptime.

So, is it working for bedtime? Maybe they are both exhausted from no nap that they just fall right asleep.

    1. Separate rooms? No problem at all. Put them together and it’s like a party.

Naps aren’t really that big of a deal. She doesn’t get them at school, but by Saturday, she’s practically asking for one!

Nope, bedtime is even worse! And, N totally needs a nap! It’s not fun for anybody if she doesn’t take one!

  9. This is so hard. We went through this with the triplets when they were all three together. What helped with that was moving Claire out and keeping the boys together. But still the boys some times messed around. What we would do is one of us would sit in the room with them until they fell asleep. We had to do this for a couple of weeks until it became clear to them that bedtime was for sleeping and not messing around.

    1. I’ve tried staying in the room, too! For over an hour. These kids are STUBBORN! I’m not sure where they get it!
