Recently I was reading that animals don’t need grains in their diets. It’s not good for them! I had no idea my cat needed to be gluten and grain free. Sasafras is getting older now, and needs all of the TLC we can give her.
In 2014, after being in the dog food world or a while, Rachael Ray Nutrish launched their first and THE first zero grain dry cat formula. The Zero Grain Whitefish & Potato recipe has the main and first ingredient as real whitefish which is tasty (I’ll assume by the way she eats it) and highly digestible (says her litter box) protein that helps maintain strong muscles. It contains zero grains, glutens or fillers with zero meat or poultry by-product meal…which I’m certain is what was in the food we were previously feeding her.
Nutrish recipes are made with simple natural ingredients and do not contain meat or poultry by-product meal or fillers. Real meat is the #1 ingredient in our cat food and all recipes were inspired by Rachael’s kitchen.
Even more impressive than our formula or position, Rachael’s personal proceeds go to Rachael’s Rescue, created to help shelter pets. As of today, over $9 million has gone toward food, medical supplies and treatments for animals in need.
Sometimes she gets a spunky bone in her and we try to make sure we are on the ready with the toys. The girls love dragging a string around for her to chase and pounce on. The old girl still has some kitty in her.
I’m not sure if the food has made her spunkier, but she doesn’t seem to eat as much of it and is her same self. And, truthfully, her litter box really is a lot better.
Most importantly, she really seems to like the food better. And since she’s eating less of it than the other food I’m buying, I will be buying her less food!
At this point, I had to fight B off of the cat’s food because she thought it was for her, too. Poor cat..she’s been through a lot of kids!
