Some nights, when dinner is a little early and baths are done and teeth are brushed, we have a little down time before bed. We don’t often have the time for an entire movie or TV show, so we will watch a bit and save it for later.

Now, we have a new option. Walt Disney Animation Studios have pulled together an extraordinary new collection of award-winning and beloved short films called the Shorts Film Collection. You know those cute little short movies that show before the main movie? Well, it features 12 of them spanning the last 15 years.

It was great to put it on one night and watch 2 shorts and not have to cut it off in the middle of a movie. Surprisingly, my girls had only seen one of the features and I had seen two, so we were excited to see what the short films were all about.

They definitely span the emotions and stories from happy to motivational to silly to musical and a little sad (The Little Matchgirl).

It also includes extras like an inside look at the Disney Animation shorts, featuring introductions and interviews with the acclaimed filmmakers themselves. It’s so amazing to see the creators speak about their work! After seeing Jonas Rivera speak about Inside Out, I appreciate the passion and love for their films even more.

It will be available early on Digital HD/Disney Movies Anywhere August 11 and you can bring it home on Blu-ray™ August 18.

The lava short is actually done by Pixar. Although Disney and Pixar are partners, this collection is all films done by the Disney animation house.

I never really thought of using short shows when there isn’t much time to watch a show.
