Spread some Cheer with Cheerios

THIS POST MAY CONTAIN AFFILIATE LINKS. I MAY EARN FROM QUALIFYING PURCHASES.

I have to admit that I’m not good at remembering to support our troops.  And, it’s a shame because I know they appreciate a little note of gratitude.  Just something to say “thank you” and “we’re thinking about you!”  And, these are actually going to the military families.  Those that are serving our country and their family at home!  (I did it in Elementary school and actually had a pen pal during the Gulf War.  It was nice to communicate and I hope he appreciated it, too).

I was very impressed when I heard what Cheerios is doing and how they are spreading Cheer with the help of the USO.  To support our military families and show that America cares, they have partnered in a postcard campaign that will spread cheer to these honorable families.

Specially-marked boxes of Cheerios cereal now feature “Cheer” postcards.  These are only on shelves through the month of November.  But, we get a year to mail the postcards in.  Cheerios is donating $1 to the USO for each cheer card that is sent in from now until November 2012 (up to $100,000)…but they’ve jump started it with an initial $150,000.

How to Send Cheer.

1. Cut out the postcard found on the front of the box. The card has dotted cut-out lines around the “Cheer” in the Cheerios logo.

2. Write a personal greeting on the backside of the postcard – a note of thanks, personal words of good cheer, a message of support.

3. Add postage and drop the card in the mail. Postcards are pre-addressed to the USO, and the USO will distribute the Cheer postcards to military families.

So easy that even our 5 year old could include a note.  We said service, because I think anybody that is on the home front is serving our country and their families just like those in a war zone.  I can’t even imagine being without my spouse, and I know I would appreciate a little note of thanks.

I wrote this review while participating in a campaign by Mom Central Consulting on behalf of Cheerios and received product samples to facilitate my review and a promotional item to thank me for taking the time to post.
