Sometimes, it’s nice to have a little staycation. A night away from your house and out of your neighborhood. A few weeks ago, I did just that. I stayed at Homewood Suites by Hilton, an extended stay hotel with a fully equipped kitchen. I asked a friend to come and have a little staycation with me and to enjoy a PeachDish meal kit service, too. Because, friends and food go pretty well together!

After having a staycation without the kiddos or the husband, I learned a couple things about myself, too!

5 things I learned about myself while having a staycation

1. I like a king-sized bed all to myself.

We have a queen bed at home. A king is kind of heavenly. I used all of the pillows myself and made a cocoon in that bed and nestled in. The hotel bed and pillows at Homewood Suites by Hilton were amazing.

2. I sleep pretty well in a hotel with white noise.

Hotels always seem to have weird noises. This time, I made sure to turn on my white noise app, pull the black out shades nice and tight and got some good sleep.

3. I enjoy cooking delicious meals.

Cooking is easy when there aren’t kids around. I have to be honest. It was a completely different experience cooking without “helpers” and having somebody to read the directions and make sure I wasn’t putting the wrong thing in next.

It helped that the kitchen was fully stocked with everything I needed.

Before my visit, I scheduled PeachDish to deliver two meals for two to my hotel room (I wanted some variety). The meals were delivered and already in my room fridge when I arrived. It also helped that PeachDish included all of the ingredients pre-measured and ready to go.

Since it was my first time ordering (and if you do the same), you need to make sure to order the “Starter Kit” if you are cooking away from home.

Meal prep was really easy without those helpers, too. I was able to take the time to stop and smell the ginger and get everything right instead of rushing through everything.

And, the results were quite tasty!

I put together a fun video of the cooking process. I’d love for you to check it out.

4. I don’t mind doing the dishes.

It turns out, I didn’t need to worry about the dishes, Homewood Suites by Hilton had me covered! I could have left them and they would have been taken care of. But, since I had good company and was only loading the dishwasher with dishes for 2 people, it was a piece of cake. Don’t go getting any ideas Mr. Serious…I said I don’t mind if the stars align and everything works out perfectly!

5. A stay-cation is more fun with company

Thankfully, my friend Lindsey (@RedHeadBabyMama) came to have dinner and hang out with me. And, being adventurous and kidless, we decided to head out and be social with the rest of Atlanta. Sometimes you just need your friends!
