Is the pool open yet?

THIS POST MAY CONTAIN AFFILIATE LINKS. I MAY EARN FROM QUALIFYING PURCHASES.

We drive by the pool everyday. It’s at the front of the neighborhood just teasing us..willing summer to get here. At least once every trip, I get asked when summer is going to be here and if and when the pool will open. (Funny, the answer never changes and yet they still ask!)

We were recently sent the Portia Bikini swimsuit by Stella Cove to get the girls even more excited about the impending pool opening.

I opted for a two piece with a surf guard. Shoulders necks and backs are always so easy to get a sunburn, even with sunscreen, so a surf guard is the way to go for my girls. And, since they will have a shirt on, I don’t think a one piece suit underneath is an option (it would make it quite difficult to go to the restroom). For right now, for us, a two piece alone (despite the girls wanting to wear it) isn’t an option. It’s cute and the top is very modest, but we aren’t ready for them to wear a two piece just yet.

Here’s the oldest “swimming” in her suit. It’s a size 6-7 and she’s a very tall and skinny 6 for most clothes. It was a good fit for her, but I felt the bottoms were a little small and snug (the company does say they run a little small. However, the surf guard seems to run true to size).

For comparison sake, we also had the 4 year old (who wears between a 4-5) try it on. I was happier with the fit of the bottoms on her. The surf guard, obviously was much longer.

The suit is very high quality and both the bottoms and top are fully-lined (which I feel is a must for swimsuits).

Stella Cove produces beachwear for boys and girls from 12 months to 16 years, and a few women’s bikinis. They also feature maillots, bikinis, fitted and board shorts, surf guards, dresses and cover ups, and even have expanded into sunglasses and a line of French Terry robes and towels. My favorite feature, of course is that all swimwear is UV50+

There are a ton of fun, sophisticated prints, many of which are exclusive to them.

We can’t wait to test out our new suit next month at Disney!

  1. Good point about going to the bathroom. That’s the only way I can appreciate a 2-piece on a child that size. (I wasn’t allowed to wear one until I was 16 … and even then I was only allowed to at home – public was still a 1-piece.)

I’m a fan of board shorts for girls too. That way it doesn’t feel like you’re out in your undies.

    1. I just started seeing board shorts. But, the ones I saw didn’t have a lining, so if they sat criss cross, you would see right into them?

        1. That messes with my frugalness! I have to buy a suit, and a shirt and shorts? I want a package deal (so if you know of a place, let me know!)

          1. good point.

I’ve been buying suits for my teenage step-daughter. She can wear the same one every year, so the expense isn’t so bad.

  2. I was raised in Alaska. Until I left for college, I didn’t know pools were outside only. I thought that was just for rich people who had them in their yards. How horrible to not be able to go swimming all year round.

    1. Funny how being in a different state (of course, practically another country) changed your views so much.

We have indoor pools here, too, but even though they are heated, we turn purple they are so cold.

  3. I am going to check out their site right now. I need a rash guard for my poikiloderma-fied skin. The girls look super cute…I love that print, imagine that 🙂

    1. No adult sizes in the rash guards. Have you tried Target or even Old Navy?

  4. i wish the pool was open… broxton wants to go swimming now…

  5. I really don’t want to think about swimwear right now. Too early!

    1. Yesterday, it was in the 80s here! it’s already time to start thinking about it!

  6. Looks nice, I love when suits come with surf guards, because I worry about sunburn

    1. I do, too! My girls get sunburned if they can see the sun…so I need anything extra that will help (and decrease our sunscreen time!)

  7. What a cute little swimsuit set, the shirt is so neat!! I am ready for summer warm weather here as well!!

    1. We went from heat earlier this week to 80 yesterday. What an interesting season.

    1. The boy ones were super cute, too. (Are they allowed to be cute? I don’t have boys..should I say something else?)

      1. Lol you can totally call boy stuff cute. &I refuse to believe otherwise. 😛

  8. This swimsuit is too cute. I would love to get something like this for my daughter.
