Since my journey with eating gluten-free and dairy-free started, there has been a lot of self-educating and educating others. It’s also made me more sensitive and hyper-aware of other people’s dietary restrictions.

I realize that it’s not everybody’s “thing” and not everybody wants to get involved, but for those of us that do, this year there is the Teal Pumpkin Project. Basically, you put out a teal pumpkin to let people know that you are allergy-friendly (as well as diabetes and a bunch of other health issues). Instead of having candy or treats, you have (or also have in our case) a non-candy option.

So, we’ll have a couple bowls, one with the chocolate and nuts and stuff, one with allergen-friendly candy, and one with non-candy treats. I think it’s a little effort to make the day of a lot of kids!

We’ve had little dinosaurs and ponies, stickers, temporary tattoos, fake spiders and more.

But, since I waited until the last minute, painting a pumpkin isn’t in my future.  I can however work photoshop and my printer like a boss, so I created teal pumpkin project printable and will be putting it outside our door.

Feel free to download it and print it off for use at your house, too!

Do you offer alternative Trick-Or-Treat Halloween options. I’d love to hear your ideas, too!
