Yep, I’m going to say it

THIS POST MAY CONTAIN AFFILIATE LINKS. I MAY EARN FROM QUALIFYING PURCHASES.

I’m so glad they went back to school this week.

Whew. Glad that’s off my chest.

After 2 weeks and 2 days off of school, it’s safe to say that we are all thankful for a little break from each other. Those of you that aren’t glad your kids are going back? Please explain. Yes, I miss the silly things. I miss the sweet random hugs and “I love you’s!” but we are all better for those couple hours everyday that we get to go our separate ways.

Before the break ended, we did come up with a plan for our dining room turned art and play room. This was after daily battles to clean and tidy it up. After a not-so-quick trip to IKEA and forking over some family Christmas money, and staying up way too late to put it all together and then purge the excess? It was ready.

The next morning, they found their room all cleaned up, organized and a cute little table. Yeah, they were pretty darn excited.

So excited that a certain 4 year old went and put on her dance clothes and started dancing on the table less than an hour later? (Yes, I took a picture. This was after I got her off of the white cabinet in the corner and then her sister ratted her out for being on the table, so I came camera in hand!)

Guilty!

That's not what your table is for

But darn, she’s cute! (But, I’m still thankful for her 4 hours at school in the morning most days).

And this week, even after having issues with chocolate milk at school, well, I changed my opinion. They were back to school, I was happy, so they got a little treat in their lunches. Yep, chocolate milk. I know, I know. I said I wasn’t a fan of it. But, then (just like her mom) #1 stopped liking milk, so a little chocolate milk treat every once and a while and getting some calcium, okay. We can deal with it. (We have a lot of discussions of “woah, slow and go” foods, so we are learning about healthy eating and lifestyles!)

Are you glad your kids went back or are you missing them terribly and wishing you were still on break?

  1. I love the playroom! Wish we had room for one in our house. Also agree it’s ok to give in to special treats from time to time!

    1. It’s our dining room…we never used it so we moved the table to our kitchen table and put our china cabinet in our guest room/office/workout room:)

  2. Whoa, thanks for the great tidbit on milk. Who would have thunk-it? Love the photo of her on the table in her dance clothes. LOL, life is a stage.

    1. I know, it’s crazy that it doesn’t need the fridge!

She totally thinks life is her stage.

  3. I set my alarm a few days in advance anticipating Monday. I woke up at 5 and could not wait til 6 to wake my son up. I was ready for it lol

    1. Oh so ready for it! I wish the girls would have slept in during the breaks!

  4. Coming by from Wordful Wednesday. Mine went back the 3rd. I don’t think we could have stood one more day in the house together. I love the playroom, and especially her dancing on the table too adorable.

    1. They didn’t start until like the 21st…and there were furlough days, etc, so it was 12 days off school!

      She knows she’s cute!

  5. I’m with you, I love my son but I’m glad he’s back at school – one, because he LOVES school and wants to be there and two because we all need time apart to do our own thing. We’d go crazy if every day was a Saturday.

    1. Oh yes, everyday being a Saturday…craziness! One reason I think I would be a failure at home schooling.

MEEEEEEEEE TOOOOOOOOOO!!! Glad they are back in SCHOOL!

  7. Ooops! She got caught! Like the determination to get that room clean & organized, I need to do that with the office. Since my kids stay home for school, at least they’re occupied with something other than video games. :/

    1. Totally caught, and yet, really not caring.

The office is next on the list!

  8. LOL! I’m one of those NOT ready for them to go back to school. I really like having all of my chicks in the nest and I’ve realized lately just how fast all of this is going by. In 10 years, I’m gonna wish I was back to all this chaos!

    1. Yes and no…their school days are so short (to me), home at 1 and 2:20, so it seems like there is still a lot of day left.

I didn’t know you surprised the girls with their new playroom. They had to be very excited. It really was a good idea and turned out very nice.

PS – you need to print and frame th epicture of Natalie on the table. Definately captures her personality.

  11. I’m not even going to lie. I was thrilled. We were all beginning to get on each others nerves. Your the room looks great!!

  12. My kids think tables are for standing on top of too! Cute room. My kids are on year round school, so they only have three weeks in school before they are out for three weeks. I hate year round school.

    1. I don’t know where they get this desire? They want to be taller?

Three weeks in and three out? No good for me!

  13. I’ll say it too! It was definitely time to get back to our normal routine. 🙂

  14. Aw! They look so happy to have their own little space! And I love the picture of her on the table. My two year old has been doing that ALL THE TIME lately. She thinks it’s pretty much the funniest thing ever. Lucky for her, she’s cute.

    1. You said it…lucky for her she’s cute….because I might get mad at her.

  15. I don’t like my kids being back in school. I think it is because the schedules all of a sudden the schedules get crazy again, there is tons of homework, no more lazy mornings. I just don’t like it. It is go, go, go, go. Blech. I can’t wait for summer. 😉

    1. You know, the schedule part is a little crazy..and right now, I only have one doing homework, though…so I know it’s going to change.

  16. I love the playroom. We have a play area as part of our living room. With two kids now, they need a whole room!

    1. We had to take back a little of our living room..and make a safe place for a crawler…so giving up our dining room was a good option.

  17. Those sweet girls. Babies are sweeter when Mama gets a bit of a break. Red’s first day back was today, too. 🙂

  18. yep — I was pretty pleased this morning, after THREE WEEKS OFF, to walk my daughter to her (pre)school class, give her a kiss, and let her go in and show off her new all-pink outfit! 🙂
