Three things I told my girls on the first day of school and every day

THIS POST MAY CONTAIN AFFILIATE LINKS. I MAY EARN FROM QUALIFYING PURCHASES.

I participated in a Influencer Activation on behalf of Influence Central for OshKosh B’Gosh. I received a promotional item to thank me for my participation.

The first day of school came and went before I even realized it. We are on a “balanced calendar” with a break in September, and February in addition to the typical breaks students get. Plus, the girls got out in May!

Of course, we had to hit up our local OshKosh B’Gosh (store locator) to get some new first day outfits. It’s fun to see their person styles and personalities show in what they pick to wear.

It may be the simple and lille things, but they are important and things I want my girls to know.

I tell them:

I love you!

At least one time before they head off to school. Probably a couple times just in case I’m worried I haven’t said it or they didn’t hear me!

First Day of School

Have fun!

Yes, school is about learning and growing, but it’s about fun, too. If kids are having fun while they are being taught and learning, they will learn more and retain it better than if they are miserable. Have just as much fun at recess as you do in math and computer. Try to find the fun in it all even if it’s not your favorite thing.

Have a great day!

I don’t say anything about behaving or being good. Just have a great day. Keeping it light and positive helps start the day on the right foot. This could mean learning all of the things, having fun, or just enjoying time with friends in a positive environment.

The first day and week of school each year really set the tone for the remainder of the school year. We are fortunate that our girls have great school experiences and really enjoy going.

We are also fortunate that we are able to provide the supplies they need and new clothes that fit them every year. We found some great deals at OshKosh B’gosh with their bold prints as well as bright colors and styles. We aren’t close to Blue Jeans weather yet, but they have some great B’Gosh Blue Jeans as well!

There are many kids and families that aren’t as fortunate. The “B’gosh Jeanius Campign” is a partnership with K.I.D.S./ Fashion Delivers, Inc., and DonorsChoose.org that will give customers the opportunity to donate a new pair of jeans or make a cash donation to a students in need this school year. All denim donated from July 28 through September 16, 2015, will be delivered to local children in need through K.I.D.S./Fashion Delivers, while cash donations will be dispersed to local DonorsChoose.org. The Carters Charitable foundation will match all cash donations up to $50,000 and all denim donations with a new item of clothing.

  5. The girls’ outfits are so cute. This is a wonderful list of things to say on the first day of school. I love what you said about telling them to have a great day. I have been known to stress my kids out in the morning before school, talking about how they should behave and such. I’m going to stop doing that…probably.

  6. Love these printables! Used them for my 5 year old’s first day of Pre-K back in the fall. Do you have files for middle school or last day of school as well?
