Being social, sharing hope, doing good. | WW

Disclosure: I am participating in the Verizon Ambassadors SE Voices program and have been provided with a wireless device in exchange for my honest opinions about the product.

Bloggers. We socialize quite a bit in the ATL. And you won’t go far without seeing us with our phones in our hands, sending out a tweet, taking a picture, uploading to instagram, or posting to Facebook. And, seriously, I’m not the worst at it.

Then, I look through the pictures from an event, and ha, I’m on my phone, and showing of a picture and Meghan’s in the background doing something social. Yes, we are quite the social group.

Bloggers be social

In addition to being social, we also get together and do things for other people. Recently, several of us got together at an Verizon store and donated some of our old phones to Verizon HopeLine (my phones were old…and they said that they weren’t even the oldest they’ve seen. They’ve actually had people drop off the “brick phones!”). Since 2001, Verizon HopeLine has connected survivors of domestic violence to vital resources, funded organizations nationwide and protected the environment by donating no-longer-used phones. These phones are used to assist the nearly one in four women, one in seven men and more than 3 million children in the United States affected by domestic violence.

Verizon Hopeline

I bet every person in their home has at least one phone sitting around not being used. Take it to a Verizon store and drop it there, get a prepaid envelope from them and drop it in the mail, or even organize an event to collect phones. It’s sad that this is the only HopeLine for so many people through use of the phones, recycling and more.

As an added incentive, before you go drop off your phone, text GADGETS to 22699 to receive 25% off any accessory in the store. Then head to the store, drop off your old phone, and pick up a fun accessory for a gift for the holiday season (or treat yourself to something!)
