You guys had a lot of questions when I announced my pregnancy.  Sneaky of me to do it as a Wordless Wednesday with like zero information, right (except the little bit on the picture!)?

So, here’s some answers!

I am almost 14 weeks along and due February 12, 2012, which is Mr. Serious’ grandparents’ anniversary.

We are very excited.

The girls?  Ecstatic.  There are a lot of belly kisses and “I love you, baby’s”!

We did do the 12 week NT test.  The tech told us she “thinks” it’s a girl, and I’m with her (just a gut feeling), but she only said 52%.  I’m not even sure what that means.  But, you couldn’t really see anything about the angle…so, we’ll patiently wait (although, I’d love to do a 3D ultrasound and look earlier, I’m not willing to shell out the extra money!)

So, we’ll find out officially at the end of September at 20 weeks.

After last time, am I scared and nervous?  Yes.  But, I try to take it one day at a time.  I also have a baby doppler that I can use whenever I want to listen in to my baby (instead of having to wait 4 weeks to go to the doctor).  I was also able to record the best sound ever and send it to our families so they could hear it, too.

The girls really enjoyed me sharing listening to the baby’s heartbeat.  We also listened to their heartbeats, too so they could make a connection.  I left it out one day, and #2 wanted to give her heart another listen.  I found her like this (don’t worry BabyBeat, she was really gentle, and it’s now out of her reach!) She was too cute not to snap a picture of her “listening” to her belly (she didn’t even have it turned on).

baby using the doppler

I’m sure I’ll share a belly shot soon.  There is definitely some belly to share!

  2. I am so excited for yall!! I am also glad the girls are so excited! They are going to be great big sisters! Can’t wait to find out for sure about gender! I would have bet my life that my baby was a girl & if I had I would have sorely lost. So maybe “he” is just hiding his goods!!! LOL!!! 😉

    1. We’ll have to see. I’d love to do a 3D for one kid, but I can’t rationalize forking over the $$.

  3. Fun times, cute photo, oh how technology has come such a long way since I was expecting a baby……….you know the, old stethascope on the head days 😉

  4. I’m so happy for you!!! I hadn’t seen your Wednesday post yet. Congratulations.
Don’t freak yourself out if you can’t find the heartbeat with the doppler sometimes. I used an Angelsound during my last pregnancy and while it is so reassuring to be able to hear the heartbeat at home it can also have quite the opposite effect if it takes a while to locate (honestly, sometimes I spent over 15 minutes before I could sigh my big sigh of relief). Since you’re 14 weeks you’ll be able to feel the baby move soon too!!
    Big hug, Tania

    1. Thanks, Tania. I’ve only had one time where I had a hard time finding it…now, it takes me like no time. I can’t wait to feel the movements.

  5. I am so excited for you guys! That is such a cute picture of N!

I didn’t know you could rent a baby doppler. What a great idea — that would have really helped ease my mind if I could have listened to baby girl’s heart beat early on…I was a scared and nervous wreck that something was going to go wrong.

    Many Congrats!!!

I’d would have loved a doppler too!!

I am thankful that this pregnancy is going well. I know that you have more worries after having a miscarriage last time but you are doing the best thing in just taking one day at a time. When I was first pregnant with Erin after Lyle being stillborn, I worried that the same thing might happen again. Then I realized that instead of letting myself enjoy that pregnancy, I was reliving the grief of the last pregnancy. It took effort at first to push the worries out of my mind and step forward with faith and joy, but before too long, I was able to put the past aside and enjoy my pregnancy. My 3rd precious baby girl was born without complications and so was her brother 3 years later.
I am happy for all of you. I feel that all will go well… and you will appreciate the miracle of birth even more than ever before. That picture of N is too cute for words. Be sure to save it to bring out one day to show the guests when she is having her first baby shower. Hugs, Lura

    1. that’s a great idea for a baby shower for her (in like a million years).

and, yes, the worry does override the joy, but i try to remember that i am not in control and can’t do anything to change the outcome.

The girls are going to be great older sisters like you were/are. Just make sure they don’t sit on the floor and pick at the new babies fingernails. Emily didn’t like it much when you did that to her.
I remember bringing Emily home and you saying “thank you for the baby”.

  9. That is so cool that you have a home dopplar. What a relief to hear that little heart beating. 🙂

  10. Oh YAY!!! So excited and happy for you! How sweet that your girls are excited too. Hugs….

    1. Thanks, Holly. I’m sure they are going to be great “helpers.”

  12. Oh so happy for you and your growing family, Krystyn!!!! My close friend suffered a loss at 17 weeks as well – so heartbreaking. And she was nervous once she got pregnant again, but like you said, one day at a time, and all was well. Her bouncy baby boy was born at full term. 🙂 How cool to have your very own baby doppler. Hearing that heartbeat whenever you want would be so reassuring. Hugs to you and congrats!!!

    1. Thank you, Kelli. It is scary, but the doppler definitely gives me reassurance.
