Fabulously Random Friday

THIS POST MAY CONTAIN AFFILIATE LINKS. I MAY EARN FROM QUALIFYING PURCHASES.

– Why do my kids throw a fit during the bewitching hour, but as soon as daddy gets home, it’s smooth sailing?  I want some smooth sailing time, too.

– During one of said fits, I was hit (accidentally) with a remote control in the eye.  I wonder if I’ll get a black eye.

– On a piece of classwork, #1 had a note from the teacher that said “please don’t use the eraser, it looks messy.”  I’m still confused about that one.

-When getting a tattoo across one’s chest/breastbone (oh, about 5 inches tall, and about 14 inches wide), you might want to make sure you are spelling the word right first (fyi, it’s “Juicy” not “Juicey.”)  Oh, and if you decide to do the same idea with the city you live in, you might want to make sure you know how to spell that, too.

– When Mr. Serious saw the brand “Juicy Couture” he thought it said “Juicy Cooter.”  I’m not even sure what to think.

-Both of my girls have a birthday next month.  I have no ideas for a party or what to do.  And, really, no desire to plan, either.

– #1 brought a necklace to school today with beads on it.  She asked her friend to help her take it off.  It resulted in beads-a-million all over the floor.  I later got a call from the director of the school that she can’t bring necklaces to school anymore.  I responded that we already had that conversation and it’s taken care of.  Her response?  “A child found a bead on the floor and put it in their ear.  Fortunately, we were able to get it out.”  Whew.

– Mr. Serious was out of town earlier this week.  I really sleep terribly when he’s gone.  And, I don’t know how single moms do it.  By 7:30 I was ready for bed.

– I had sushi for dinner Monday.  It was soooo good.  None of that raw stuff, though, only cooked for me, please.

-I finally got my supply order in…and I am in purple pen heaven.  And, not because I think it lowers the blow of a red pen; just because I like my purple pens.

– How is it already mid-September?  And, almost Fall?

– I went to two stores in search of canned pumpkin.  Apparently, the shortage is here, too.  Even better?  I had a can from last year in the pantry…and it’s still not expired.  There will be some pumpkin-chocolate muffins in our future.

– That’s all I’ve got…and now I’m randomly ending my random post.

– PS (Because I’m random like that), have you checked out Mommy and Me Monday?  It’s a great way to make sure mommy exists in pictures, too.

  1. I love random.

And I am totally going to try and post some mommy and me pics this monday.

  2. Was the tattoo one of your students’ doing?
And I am totally not getting the eraser thing either.

    1. Yes, both of them are. Isn’t that crazy? Reminds me of the commercial with the singing lady about the chinese tattoo and the fact that is says the name of food instead of something inspirational.

  3. love reading random posts. I am going to the grocery store tomorrow and if I see pumpkin I’m buying all of them 😛

    1. Good luck..let me know if you can find it. I might ask my Texas family to look for some and bring it if they find it!

  4. Random replies to random comments:

“Why do my kids throw a fit during the bewitching hour, but as soon as daddy gets home, it’s smooth sailing? I want some smooth sailing time, too.” – for the same reason my child is a perfect angel at daycare and then throws a fit when its time to go home … unless she’s with daddy.

“- During one of said fits, I was hit (accidentally) with a remote control in the eye. I wonder if I’ll get a black eye.” – I was smacked in the forehead with a rock when my daughter didn’t want to put it down to go home yesterday.

” Mr. Serious was out of town earlier this week. I really sleep terribly when he’s gone. And, I don’t know how single moms do it. By 7:30 I was ready for bed.” Mine is out of town this weekend. I’m not sure how I’m going to do grocery shopping and keep the house clean and entertain my daughter and get my work done and not lose my sanity…..

“I finally got my supply order in…and I am in purple pen heaven. And, not because I think it lowers the blow of a red pen; just because I like my purple pens.” – Purple RSVP pens are THE BEST!!!! That’s what I use on nearly everything. I’m not sure how my students felt about purple remarks on their papers, but that’s what they got.

” I went to two stores in search of canned pumpkin. Apparently, the shortage is here, too. Even better? I had a can from last year in the pantry…and it’s still not expired. There will be some pumpkin-chocolate muffins in our future.” – just bake your own next time. Get a carving pumpkin, cut it in half, bake in a 350* oven for an hour. Then blend or puree in a food processor. Divide into containers to freeze and pull out when needed for various pumpkin treats – pumpkin bread, pumpkin muffins, pumpkin pancakes, pumpkin cookies, and my personal favorite – pumpkin pie!! Mmmmmm……….. Pumpkin is my favorite. So excited for Pumpkin Spice Lattes at Starbucks and Pumpkin Pie shakes at Jack-in-the-Box.

    You teach chemistry, right????
I’m beginning to wonder if you aren’t my long lost twin sister. I find so many things we have in common as I read your posts.

    1. Okay..I’ll totally be thinking about you this weekend!

And, oh the PSL at the bucks. I had one this morning for a treat. Delish!

      Yep, I teach chemistry…I’m a dork.

  5. I have a can of pumpkin from last year too – I can send it your way if you like! ha ha! And I still have to explain to Maggie that we can’t bring toys etc. to school. Not an easy task!

    1. If you are serious, I might take you up on that offer. It’s like gold here!

  6. Hi Krystyn! Um, the betwitching hour=the hour mommy really needs some pinot noir at my house. And, there’s a shortage of canned pumkin?! What’s up with that?

    1. Oh yes…I totally agree.

And, yep, a shortage. Something about too much rain and moldy pumpkins. Not too happy about that!

  7. Love the randomness! So much fun to “hear” the random thoughts of a mama.

  8. You sound a bit drained. It seems to be going around lately. Here too. 😉
I think chocolate pumpkin bars are the perfect fix! 🙂
    Have a great weekend!

  9. Seriously? Whats the point of an eraser if you can’t use it?? And I”m still completely in shock that it is mid September! Where did the time go?

  10. Really? No one has commented on the Juicy Couture? I laughed out loud when I read that. MrC will appreciate it too!!

  11. love random days! those pumpkin chocolate muffins sound amazing! is there a recipe that you like?

  12. I love that you use purple pens………great idea!………

    Um…yeah……..birthdays next month……..how about a birthday next week?…..party?…um……who are we talking about?……..lol……..

Actually, thankfully TigerBoy is super easy. He just wants a construction cake again. I found some construction cone candles……..and I’ll just decorate the top with crushed oreos and a dump truck, etc……………….
Also found some way cool construction cone cups!………..

  13. Ok, that random post rocked! And juicy cooter…hahahahahahahaha!

  14. Okay wait…the director of the school CALLED you to tell you your baby can’t wear necklaces to school anymore? Um, isn’t that a bit over the top. Gee it’s not like she meant to toss the millions of beads on the floor. (end of rant)
    Love the random:)

  15. I love cooked Sushi too… I’d say that the kid who put the bead in his ear, well, if it had gotten stuck it would have still been his own fault regardless of where he got it haha. Now if your daughter had shoved it in his ear that would be a different story.

When I was in school our teachers didn’t like erasers either… if we messed up a word it had to be crossed out with one straight line (and we had to use a ruler for it)

  16. The more my kiddos grow the less the desire to plan an AWESOME birthday bash.

  17. I was going to text Amanda about what’s up with the pumpkin shortage, I had no idea until this morning when a little preschooler wanted pumpkin muffins.

I found a can, well a lot of them, at guess where? Aldi – that’s right! And at $.89, ha-ha.

I had to giggle about the bead in the little girl’s ear too, like you *really* had anything to do with her bad decision 😉

  18. i want to reply to each random but they are all at the top of the page and i think i am too tired to go back and forth…so here’s what i remember:

-i want smooth sailing too. pretty please.

    -juicy cooter!! haha

-i could never be a single mama. seriously those ladies are true super heros.

    – they weren’t cupcakes were they? you busted open the can o pumpkin?? yum.

-r u responding to everyone on here now? seriously how do you have the energy?

  19. The Juicy and Mr. Serious random had me laughing out loud and boy do I miss pumpkin. The only I can find is the organic which is nearly $3.00 a can, yikes!

  20. I totally remember being a single mother… my first husband left me and the boys (ages 3 and 6 at the time)… and I didn’t marry Jerry until the oldest was out of high school. Yeah, I KNOW who raised my boys… and I KNOW how much work it took. I’m blessed that they grew into wonderful men (now ages 28 and 31). And they call Jerry “Dad.” But I think it’s even harder to be a single mom in today’s world, so many new hurdles and stresses in everyday life.

I’m 53… still looking for that smooth sailing thing you refer to. LOL!

Got a dozen canned pumpkin here! Ready for Thanksgiving and Christmas! *woot*
