Before heading to Houston for the Fourth of July holiday, I was reminded of a blueberry farm not far from our house. With no camps for the week, I figured it was a good day to go check it out.
We went early Tuesday morning, hoping it wouldn’t be too crowded or hot.
It was based on the honor system with two different sized buckets and amounts. We realized how glad we were that we went with the $3 bucket. It took a while to fill it…even with 5 of us doing the picking.
The girls were pretty good at finding the ripe ones, and sharing the bucket carrying time.
And maybe a certain somebody ate one or two while we were there.
It was also the first time I’ve ever seen a ram actually ramming things. There were some on the same property as the farm (or behind it, hard to tell) and it kept smashing its head into some sheet of metal. It made quite the loud noise and definitely caught us off guard the first time.
N made some blueberry compote and we have a freezer bag full of blueberries for smoothies and more in the upcoming weeks!
