Our overnight trip last week to an indoor water park? Awesome.
We jetted off to Great Wolf Lodge North Carolina.
They have an indoor water park! That really sealed the deal for us.
We stayed in a Kid Kamp room,
which had a nice king-sized bed for us, and a cute little bunk bed “room” for the kids. I say “room” because it didn’t have a door. I wish it had a door or at least a black out curtain to cover the opening to the room. Our girls don’t sleep well away from home and this would have helped them sleep (#1 was up until 11:30pm!!!).
They brought us a yummy treat, too. This was a welcome snack after playing in the waterpark for two hours.
About that water park. They really didn’t forget anything. There were rides for all ages; from the kiddy/baby area to the big tornado slide for the “big kids.” There is even a bigger slide that the kids went on all by themselves (in fact, there isn’t any lap-riding allow). And, there were rides that you could do two people in a tandem tube. The slides go in and out of the building (enclosed, so no worries about getting cold) and there is a water park.
Our water park max time was two hours; however, if our kids were older, I think you could spend all day there.
#2 thought it was hilarious to peak through the little “window” to her room.
And, she was super silly waiting for the “snow” storm to start.
They even have a sweet shop, too. We didn’t purchase anything there, but the cookies (above) were from here, too, and they were very yummy.
While trying to kill some more time before dinner, we found that there was a craft room for the kids with both free crafts and some paid ones. The girls made foam Christmas picture frames.
We were provided a very gourmet dinner; prime rib and salad, the works. Even chicken tenders and fries for the kids.
After dinner, the girls wanted to pose with the Christmas tree.
With the other bloggy moms at the hotel.
After dinner, we checked out the Snowland show. They told a little story,
and, then it snowed. (We thought it was going to be real snow; turns out it was bubbles that looked like snow, but didn’t feel like it.)
We had a great time at Great Wolf Lodge. The girls slept almost the entire way home (about 4 hours) because they were so exhausted from playing in the water park (and going to bed late).
There were many other options and things to do in the hotel. There was a kit you could purchase ($30) that had a magic wand and had activities to do with the wand all over the hotel. The kids that we saw playing it seemed to be having a wonderful time. We just weren’t willing to spend that money. In fact, there are quite a few ways to spend a lot more money at the hotel. Remember, we are cheap and on the Dave Ramsey plan, so we decided not to make those purchases, and had a great time.
Your hotel room price includes both the water park and the Snowland show.
The Great Wolf Lodge provided us one night at the hotel which included water park passes and a family dinner. All opinions are my own and are not influenced monetarily.
