What do you wish you'd known at 13?

What do I wish I would have known at 13?

Man, that opens a can of worms, and yet it’s quite the challenge to articulate it.

I wish I would have learned that I was me and beautiful just the way I was am.  I would never look like another person or be another person.  I’m me.  And, I’m the best me there is.

You can set aside time to mutually compliment each other, talk about feelings at school, or ask your children what they like about themselves.

Imagine a world

…where every girl grows up with the self-esteem she needs to reach her full potential.
…where every woman enjoys feeling confident in her own beauty.
…where we all help to build self-esteem in the people we love most.

Dove wants everybody to join them for their first ever Dove Self-Esteem Weekend on Oct 22nd – 24th, where one hour of your time can make a world of difference.  There are conversation starters and a weekend toolkit available on the Dove Movement website which provides ideas for self esteem activities you can partake in over the weekend and place on a map. You can also connect with Dove via the Dove Facebook page.

Take the time to do a self esteem check with your children.  Make sure they feel good about themselves!

What do you wish you knew when you were 13?

I received a Dove Self Esteem kit which I passed on to my sister.

  1. Oh, where to begin? I sure do wish I had known how great my life would turn out so I would not worry over so many little, insignificant things.

  2. I wish I would have known how beautiful I really was and how to be confident despite my lack of attention from boys. In fact, I wish I would have known that not having attention from teenage boys was a GOOD thing! LOL

  3. i wish i could tell the 13 year old me – it’s really not that complicated.
