Did you catch The Grinch in theaters this holiday season? Well, whether or not you did, it’s coming to a disc and digital near you soon! In celebration of this, we decided to make some Grinch Peanut Butter Snack Mix.
This classic story is an upgraded version while still keeping pretty true to what you know and love. And of course the home versions have a ton of extras and bonus content. My kids saw it in the theater and have watched it three times since it came to live at our house (thanks to the PR team for sending it.)
About The Grinch
Families everywhere can ring in the New Year with Dr. Seuss’ The Grinch on Digital and via the digital movie app MOVIES ANYWHERE on January 22, 2019, and on 4K Ultra HD, 3D Blu-ray™, Blu-ray™, DVD and On Demand on February 5, 2019. From Illumination and Universal Pictures Home Entertainment, the film based on Dr. Seuss’ beloved tale about a cynical grouch who goes on a mission to steal Christmas from others only to feel his own heart grow three sizes larger through unexpected friendships is one “the whole family can watch and enjoy,” (Kidsday/Newsday).
The new home entertainment edition contains more than 60 minutes of bonus content, including three mini-movies: “Dog Days of Winter” starring the Grinch and his heroically loyal dog Max; and “Yellow is the New Black” and “Santa’s Little Helpers,” both starring the lovable Minions. It also includes stunning featurettes, a how-to-draw tutorial and much more. Narrated by Grammy Award® winner and Oscar® nominee Pharrell Williams, Dr. Seuss’ The Grinch stars Academy Award® nominee Benedict Cumberbatch (Dr. Strange, “Sherlock”) as the infamous Grinch, who lives a solitary life inside a cave on Mt. Crumpit with only his loyal dog, Max, for company. The incredible voice cast includes Rashida Jones (“Parks and Recreation,” The Muppets) as Donna Who, Kenan Thompson (“Saturday Night Live”) as Bricklebaum, Cameron Seely (The Greatest Showman) as Cindy-Lou Who, and featuring legendary actress Angela Lansbury (Anastasia, Beauty and the Beast) as the mayor of Whoville. Funny, heartwarming and visually stunning, Dr. Seuss’ The Grinch is a perfect night in for the whole family!
So, get your movie loaded in your favorite medium and grab all of your ingredients to make your quick snack to enjoy while the family watches the movie!
Making your Grinch Peanut Butter Snack Mix
Since we had friends over, we got the girls to sort out the candies into different colors. We were keeping the red and green candies (Sixlets and m&ms).
While they were sorting it was time to melt the peanut butter chips, butter and vanilla in the microwave until smooth.
Then I added a few drops of green food coloring gel to the smooth mixture and poured it over our Corn Chex.
Followed by some gentle stirring to coat the cereal with the peanut butter mix.
Once coated, moving swiftly so they didn’t dry, we added the powdered sugar and PB fit powder to a large zippered bag. To that bag, we added the green cereals and shook the bag to coat.
After they were nice and coated, the mini marshmallows and chocolate candies were added. You can also add some pretzels for added crunch and to make a nice sweet and salty mixture.
- 9 cups corn Chex
- 1 cup peanut butter chips
- 1/4 cup butter
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1/2 cup PB fit powder
- Green food coloring
- Mini marshmallows
- Red m&m candies and/or sixlets
- Pour the Chex into a large bowl.
- Melt the peanut butter chips, butter and vanilla in the microwave stirring frequently and until smooth.
- Add several drops of green food coloring gel to the mixture.
- Pour the mixture over the Chex and stir lightly to coat.
- Mix the powdered sugar with the PB fit powder and then place in large zippered bag.
- Pour the green Chex into the zippered bag and shake to cover with the powdered sugar mixture.
- Serve with mini marshmallows, red m&m candies and/or sixlets and add pretzels if desired.
